View Full Version : The migration will not be televised!!
Canalman 09-26-2003, 04:38 PM Maybe 4 times a week is not enough! But doesn't seem like we should be getting some "pushes" of better bass right about now? I do, however, have a permanent float in the twinkie parade. Hit the canal this AM, tons of fish on top all shorties under 25". Still fun but that place should be smokin' right now!! Maybe I'm being impatient... anyone have any soothing words for me????? :D

Scotch Bonnet 09-26-2003, 06:37 PM The size of the peanut bunker remind me of late August last year. My theory is this season has been 2-3 weeks behind from the get go.

I'm with you
shore manic 09-26-2003, 11:28 PM personnaly i think we're about 3- 5 weeks away from last year at this time.
Slipknot 09-27-2003, 06:13 AM I think it's about a week earlier
compared to the hours fished and the #/size bass taken, I am closer to late August numbers than late September so.....it looks like a month late this year which matches pretty well the delay I saw in Spring run
Canalman 09-27-2003, 06:40 PM I'm glad I'm not the only one...
Slip - Why do you think we're earlier this year?

Slipknot 09-27-2003, 08:28 PM I have my reasons :D
but, it could be a fluke
Chunker of Death 09-28-2003, 08:13 AM Well, your about to get a bunch o' Maine fish as they are beating fins outta here zippidy quick. Its been a rather strange migration up heayah in Maine. IMO it started in early Sept. Was finding mucho amounts of fish schooling up on the beaches and moving south. Not much to hold them as there wasn't much bait around. Then something wild happened......the first wave of peanut bunker (which I've renamed kidney bean pogies cause their tiny, tiny, tiny) showed up and the stripers slammed on the migration brakes. Second wave of kidney beans showed up on 03/26. Fish spent the weekend feeding hard and are starting to show signs of moving out. But hey, it ain't over yet.......Hey Slipknot, check yer PM.
RIJIMMY 09-28-2003, 03:19 PM I think its pretty consistent that everything is 3-4 weeks behind this year. I spent about 6 hours in the surf this morning. One schoolie. The wind and tides were perfect so no excuses...
I remember freezing my butt off last year but I could not believe how warm the water was today.
Goose 09-28-2003, 04:07 PM my .02, best is yet ta come. Water feels warm to me. Dave, I thought ESPN was carring the magration this year?? If you fish they will come:heybaby:
Canalman 09-30-2003, 07:42 PM Well I write a post like this and two days later I'm slammin' 'em... The canal finally came to life... for me... Slip you are in a league of your own :D.
