Got down there Friday morning (a little later than I had planned due to a cracked distributor cap). Beach was nice, but no fish! Got to play with the new toys, though, and try out the new waders. After years of just wearing hip boots, its kinda weird to not have to back up when those "crotch" waves come by! Gonna be a hard habit to break. Threw bucktail jigs for a couple hours, and then just for the learning experience, threw some of the bigger lures just to get used to them. The Hab's popper is real nice, and the needlefish is pretty great as well. I just hope they start hitting lures in NJ in the next few weeks, as I'm headed there first week of May, and while I enjoy ch#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&g clams, I'd love to see a couple slam those lures.

Anyway, after the beach I tried the breachway by Don's shop and NADA there, either. Saw one other couple out on the rocks, and they got nothing, but they were tossing bait, and basically didn't look like they had a clue, anyway.

Don - stopped by a couple times before noon, the guys said they were expecting you, but I hade to leave, so maybe next time.

Sorry to hear about that Steve but you did get out and it was definitely nice out!! I tried a couple "producers" this weekend to no avail. But anytime now... been saying that for a while - that broken record is going off in my head and I'm starting to hear voices 8)

While I'm not big on the Jersy scene (never fished there), I am on a mailing list, Betty & Nicks, and every morning I get an e-mail saying that someone or another has brought in little keepers around 8 - 12 pounds. They'll be there in a few weeks...

Yeah, they've been getting some small "keepers" (NJ has that fake slot, you know) and a few legit keepers, though small, for a few weeks now, most all on clams. I go at least twice a year, once in early May and once in November. Always have fun down there, always get some fish, and since I spent the first 24 years of my life in North Jersey, it's nice to go home (But I wouldn't wanna live there. ;))
