Nice to catch...but can't eat'em. They also can be annoying to catch when they are feeding hard and not taking anything thrown their way!

I will say two things positive about them...when you DO catch them they RUN like mad...great fighting fish.! AND they are beautiful when you first take them out of the water...

fishsmith,
I was using a Penn 4400 with 14lb trilene, and a 4' 15lb flourocarbon leader. After trying a few differant line / leader combinations this seems to be the best. Just hang on because this little guy came very close to spooling me....

Got my first albies last year, they are psychotic! I got one on the flats and the fish just would not stop in the shallow water. The funnest fish I've caught... maybe tied with the tarpon.

That is an absolute fattie. It looks like its about to explode.

Good fish 179.

179, is that a plier you got from wal-mart? I had one like yours at home, They suck because they corrode easily. I tried fixing it with a WD-40, but it didn't work.

notaro,
I think it's a Shimano plier and they suck. I buy the cheapest I can find as they all tend to rust out, or get dropped over the side.

Yes, they do suck.

If you don't like Albies or Bonito then you don't like fish, They are awsome with alittle cajun seasoning on them.

Cappucci - you like these little albies? Not the bigguns but these little guys?

Bonito is schweet eating!

Bonito is an excellent fish to eat and even better smoked IMO.

Albies...tell me how you like to eat them... I have NEVER found a way that makes them any good. Most people I know use them as lobster bait. They are mealy-mush IMO, even if you bleed them.
I do love to fight them on light tackle though...they are bullets.

RE: pliers...I went thru 3 pair of pliers this season...lost 2 on the boat and one in the surf. I buy the $17 coated Shimino's, the suck a lot less then the sub $15 pliers I have used. I actually have a pair of very expensive Donmars (the same plier that VS copied ;) but I am afriad to use it even though it has a teather to my belt...actually I use it but I find the disaposible $17 shimano's do the job just fine until they find the seabed.
