View Full Version : How bad is the wind in South County? Steve K 10-21-2003, 10:38 AM I am thinking of fishing South County late this afternoon and I was wondering how bad the wind is? Is it too strong to cast into? Thanks RIROCKHOUND 10-21-2003, 10:54 AM Steve, gusting into the mid 30is in Kingston, havent been to the coast today.. My guess is the surf is high.. may be ok after switch to NW winds... check www.gso.uri.edu/weather for winds real time... thats in Northern Narragansett... so it is likely windier than gso records in charlestown but gives u a rough idea Bryan Mike P 10-21-2003, 11:23 AM It's blowing about 25-30 SW in NYC and the front hasn't gone thru yet. The dark clouds are still a good bit to the SW. JohnR 10-21-2003, 11:31 AM I'm half way up the bay and saw a big branch come down in my neighbor's yard. So much so that I'm leaving the driveway open for my wife's car, hehehehe (that's a joke!) Bill L 10-21-2003, 11:32 AM I fished a SoCo beach this morning at sunrise, the wind was honking from the SW and the surf was big, but it was still fishable at the time. (didn't catch anything though  ). Not sure how bad/dirty the surf has built up throughout the day though. beachwalker 10-21-2003, 12:07 PM You mean how "Good" is the wind in S. County. Heading out with a small windsurfer and a big rod @ 3:00pm. Catch the evening bite in one of my favorite spots. Wish I could be there in the am. Next week after we change the clocks ! :D Nebe 10-21-2003, 12:12 PM I just got in from fishing the rocks at Narragansett. Its windy, but if you can get yourself out on a point and cast down with the wind your golden. I didn't catch chit, but yesterday was a blast! thats a diffent story though ;) eben bloocrab 10-21-2003, 09:58 PM Also fished tonight...casting was decent but getting to where you wanted to cast from was a different story. Standing in 2 feet of water while getting hit with 5 foot waves... That don't work... Don't get me wrong, during this time of year..the fish could be ANYWHERE...but I didn't fish long, I'll try again in the morning... BasicPatrick 10-21-2003, 10:06 PM Bloo needs aquaskinz beachwalker 10-22-2003, 07:56 AM I probably could use one too Patrick. Standing in the rip at GP getting hosed. A wild evening with 2 fish. I about 30" the "other" a good 20 lber. Caught them both on Tattoos Black/Purple darter. Thing is Awesome in the wind. The first fish was the "first" cast WAY out into the rip/ Set the bail and "Blammo". Winds were 20-30 with higher gusts. There were hundreds of people out there ;) RIJIMMY 10-22-2003, 08:25 AM I fished SO. County last night from 7-10:30 and it was FANTASTIC. Matunuck was little rough but Gansett was sweet. The wind was not as bad as reported,. I caught more fish last night than I did all year. One bass had a belly like a football. Lost two good ones, fought her all the way in and lost her over a sand bar. It had to be 30+, I could barely budge her. :D :D :D :D Nebe 10-22-2003, 09:08 AM :smash: I was trying to wet a line last night but got dragged out to go shopping with my girlfriend :smash: I did buy some smelly jelly though :D bloocrab 10-22-2003, 09:24 AM Originally posted by BasicPatrick Bloo needs aquaskinz ...it's gonna take a lot more than aquaskinz to fill my needs :D..the surf this morning wasn't even close to last nights'..and I was still being lifted off my feet by the incoming breaking waves...even landed sideways once or twice... ..glub - glub... I was trying to get further out on the bar but kept getting hit with cross waves. Ain't no fun being in the middle of those suckas. Can you say wet-suit? :)....or wet seal, more like it...:laughs: beachwalker 10-22-2003, 01:31 PM Yea Jimmy, :D Fishpart 10-22-2003, 01:49 PM Bloo, How about a dry suit......... vBulletin® v3.8.7, Copyright ©2000-2025, vBulletin Solutions, Inc.
