View Full Version : Is It Just Me, Or Can The Patriots Not Score A Touchdown To Save Their Life?

Now I know what you are thinking...."But they scored that big touchdown last week to win", well...what was the final score of that game? I can't recall the exact score but I know that it wasn't a barnburner, and the reason it was so close is because the Patriots can't get the offense moving. They have been oh so lucky the past few weeks. Just wait until they play a team with a high powered offense and a defense that is at least decent. We will lose to a team like that every time. Our defense has not been that good, the opponents offense has been that bad! Our defense is so beat up right now we are lucky to get out of a 9-6 game with a win. I am a huge Pats fan, but I am also a realist. Soon this will all come crashing down and reality will settle in. Any thoughts?

I'ld say that "Oh so lucky" is pushing it a bit. Your not giving the pats the credit they deserve. I mean their D has been banged up and miami and the Titians are no walk overs.I'ld like to see a more expolsive offense but they got what they got. So enjoy the W's and don't b*t*ch....this is the NFL!

I am a critical Pats fan who expects just a little more from an offense that is capable of alot more than they are giving us offensively. When the gas tank runs empty in a couple weeks, I am telling you, I can hear you all screaming for more gas.

Goose
10-26-2003, 09:23 PM
What would you rather have a defensive or offensive minded coach? Pats gave only given up one, yes one TD in the past three weeks. If you don't have the weapons to put up points. It doesn't matter, your team can hang in there and wait for opportunities to win. Another thing pats have is special teams, thats like 20% of the game I think. What about their runnin game with faulk? Aren't ya psychic'd bout that compared to last year. Come on dude have some faith.

Tommy, I couldn't agree with you more. Goose & SKD, spoken like true New England Sports Fans......be happy with the win today and worry about losing when it happens. We will discuss this much further after the next couple games and do you agree that some one of us will be dining on crow? Lets hope I am wrong, I would not have a problem with that.

Ehh I dont know. All I know is Dolphins have to get out of the AFC East. The Dolphins can Play the Pats Bills or Jets when all of them are 0-10 and both teams will play like it was a superbowl of the undefeated. That Pats game is gonna come back to haunt the fins. The chargers game might seem like a brees but Chargers have weapons and Jay Fiedler is out ( i hope he retires) haha. But Dolphins also have to play the Colts, Cheifs, Titans, and the rest of the AFC East the rest of the season.

Im watching the Bills/Chiefs game now and they said the Dolphins will play the Chargers in Sun devil Stadium in Tempe, Arizona because of the SD Wildfires.

We will see what happens, Im holding out hope Brian Griese will play well. Trust me I will be praying for a 300 yard game from Griese. Im sick of Fiedler HE IS A 2nd string QB not a starter. The onyl way Wannstedt will take out Fiedler is if Wanny gets fired. Maybe Griese can rectify his career, who knows...

Bigfish,
The Pats have to work on the redzone, nothing new.
The defense is what wins games, and our defense is playing great, plus the the offense made plays and didn't make costly mistakes, they won in time of possesion. They played a good game yesterday. Cleveland has won 10 of its last 12 away games(I think, I know they're not pushovers), and they've got premier recievers.

Sounds like you've been putting money on the over?

BigFish
10-27-2003, 07:14 PM
Naaahhhh! I don't bet football Fishsmith, but I agree with you always a problem in the red zone, and often beating themselves with stupid penalties.

A win is a win, no matter how they get it. If they were so good that they blew out every team it would be boring, Us Pats fans are always on the edge of our seats. I love it!!! We just need to make it too the bye week and hopefully we get some of our many injured players back. Altho they are doing pretty good without them.

GO PATS!!!!!!

To go deep in the playoffs, the Pats offense needs some teeth...."a win is a win is a win"....sounds like the rallying cry of a Boston sports fan, so beaten down by defeat and heartbreak that they will always be happy with any scrap thrown their way instead of wanting the prime rib! When the Pats get hungry down the stretch and they ain't got the teeth to chew their meat, thats when you will all understand what I am talking about. I don't settle for "a win is a win is a win" and I did not take pleasure in the fact that the Sox made it into the playoffs as a "WILDCARD":yak: it all adds up to the same old thing...SECOND BEST!

Hey Bigfish......What about the Patriots when they won the SUPER BOWL.....Did they look over powering that year???,,nope..They won one game at a time...gee...what a thought:smash:

BigFish
10-28-2003, 12:38 PM
SKD....come on! They are gonna have to work a little harder this year to go deep in the playoffs! KC 8-0...our offense IS gonna have to step it up...or we can just lay back and HOPE they just simply GET LUCKY? Thats what you are telling me in a nutshell! Well, I am not buyin' it. The Pats ain't gonna get that lucky a second time, they are actually going to have to score on a more consistent basis and improve their red zone scoring percentage. They can't spend the whole season hoping that their defense, which is pretty beat up and has gotten some good performance out of the backups that they have, continues to GET LUCKY! They are actually going to have to play equally well on the offensive side of the ball as they generally do on the defensive side of the ball. Hey just for kicks, you know how the Red Sox had the "Cowboy Up" thing? The Patriots can have "Lets Get Lucky"! :laugha: :hihi:

Goose
10-28-2003, 06:23 PM
So pretty much till this point in the season what your sayin is they've been LUCKY...lol and two years ago they where Lucky....lol. Many teams in pro sports that have won it all are good teams and have had the luck also! If you watch a team dominate another,, during the game often you will see the ball either bounce their way or calls go their way, thats no secret right?,, luck and being good often go hand in hand.

Why is that some of the fisherman on this site and several hunters that I know consistantly catch and kill large bass & bucks?....some would say they are LUCKY... I laugh to myself everytime....we know better then that. YOU are the guy who "some would say" except your sayin its the pats.

You realy think your sayin something everyone doesn't know??

Knowone is aruging they are super bowl contenders at this point. As a NewEngland fan I what to see my team succeed weather it be by one point every game or 30, routing for them in the playoffs is like a bonus. How many times have you seen an outstanding team have an awsome season and get shot down in the playoffs?? I hate negitive people, especialy fans who want to stone their own team. Hey Bigfish...I dare you , no, I double dare you, to say something postive about the team you so call follow!

BigFish
10-28-2003, 07:10 PM
Goose...if you re-read some of my posts you will see there are many positive notations listed, all I am saying is they need to turn up the offense and you do not think that to be true then you are a fool and have been watching New England sports teams for too long! I am a Boston sports fan, and all I ever want is for the local teams to do well, I do not like to sit around watching them hoping they get LUCKY! The 49'ers of the Montana era were not lucky, they were dominant, the Steelers...DOMINANT...Packers...DOMINANT! There was never any luck involved beyond "lucky they had the teams they had"! Remember the Celtics? I KNOW YOU DO! The Celtics of the 60's and the 80's DOMINATED the opponents, they crushed them on both sides of the ball! You sit around and be complacent and chant "LETS GET LUCKY!" Goose, I expect a little more from my Pats offense than a 9-3 win with three field goals and a squeaker in overtime, four strong quarters of football would be great! Goose, it simply comes down to the fact that I just want more for my hometown team than "LUCK"! I want something better for them...they have the horses and I want to see them ride. Maybe you are not seeing where I am coming from, but I only want to win as much as you do, however you can only hang in the playoff picture for so long with "LUCK"! I do not want the Patriots to turn out to be another paper tiger. I know they can do better offensively and I think they will, hopefully soon. Don't you agree?
Go Pats! If I didn't care or wasn't a fan, I would not argue with such passion, just like you Goose or SKD or Fishaholic, Fishsmith or Tommy.

What a game.

There is the offensive explosion I been looking for and knew they were capable of...those long passes, very un-Patriot like. They do not have a history of airing it out. I love when they connect on those bombs! Great game! Now we got a by next week, gotta keep the momentum going and get some of those injured players back on the line.
