I fished hard last night from Menahaunt to Nobska and not even a tap. If it weren't for the Northern Lights it would have been really depressing. Nothing on Nauset on Tuesday with BM and Stifftip. One lone twenty pounder in Truro last Saturday night. Either I got the stink on me real bad or it just went poof and in the wink of an eye, they left. Wasn't a great season anyway what with the cold spring and most fish settling in in RI,CT AND NY/NJ and not making the trip all the way up to the Cape but jeez does it have to end so soon? Making a trip to the Elizabeth's tomorrow. We will see what we will see........:confused:

Steve I was SPOSED to winterize the barge tomorrow....but 75 degrees calls and says NICE boat day. You may see me down there :D

If all else fails, there were BRUISER blues about 3 miles nw of Woods the other day....nothing under 10 lbs, typical 14-18lbers.

Thanks for the info Salty, the 5:40 AM weather calls for west/southwest 10 to 20 tomorrow. Hope it's nearer the 10 mark.:D

I got a few of them big Blues the other day, what a fight!! But there have been little as far as Bass are concerned :( But I got 4 last Sat. near the Quicks area

It's no where near over where I fish, although some nights have been better than others. You gotta figure if fish are migrating you might not hit them big time every night. Wasn't Stetzco's 73 pounder caught on November 1st?

Yeah it was. Also on November 3rd 1990 at Old Harbor in Sandwich I took two fish in three casts, one was 44 lbs. the other was 46 and a half. Both fish fell to a black Stan Gibbs Darter. I was fishing eels and the schoolies kept taking them and running and dropping it so I changed to the Darter as the tide was almost gone and it was shallow figuring I could at least catch a couple dinky ones for my trouble and imagine my surprise! I kept both as the first was big and I figured I could stock my freezer. The second cast was f---d up and I got a an eagle's nest which took time to get out of the conventional reel and I never dreamed of getting a bigger one on the next cast, but I did. Now up to that time my biggest bass ever was and still is 49 pounds nine ounces and the second fish measured 53 inches and so I thought I had my first ligit fifty. Against better judgement I took them both as the 44 had expired on the beach, well it only weighed 46 1/2. I was disappointed and we sure ate a lot of Striper at my house that winter. Next time it would go swimming away if I had to do it all over again.

Tony's fish: In those days I was single, lived with a girl friend who did not fish (she did not work out) and I was a surf fishing machine..all I did was surf fish for bass nearly every night all night...mainly on the the cape (sept) and BI OCT and NOV. The amount of time I put in was extreme. Nearly every wakeing minute from Labor Day to Dec was consumed with surf fishing for big bass. I took a lot of time off back then. It was different then. Fish have not been around this far north after Nov arrives like they were back then...there is more action in sept now and less in Nov for the past few years. I don't know why but Nov has been slow bass fishing in Ma for the last few years. No matter what the temp is.
RI has a couple more decent weeks then a trickle. Montauk should be good thru Nov and Jersey in NOV and DEC. Those are the places you want to be now. IMO it is pretty much over in MA now. Yes you still could catch one but the main body of fish have split IMO.

I know it is nice this weekend and this should be the last shot for a lot of guys I am sure you will here of some caught. I plan to fuel up and haul tomorrow and will not fish unless I see fish on the surface on the way to my ramp. (about a 15 mile cruise) There is just so many other things going on now I need to close up the boat, get the engines and reels serviced, put my gear away, and move on towards winter stuff.

I really wanted to go tog fishing but I can't seem to rally the family between after school stuff, sports, parties ect... it looks like this season is a wrap for me.
That said I will keep one of my surf sticks out along with a pair of waders and plug bag till Xmas incase I hear of something. You watch, after saying all this I catch a big one from the surf tonight :) (I always surf fish halloween, I don't know why but it is just something I like to do...I avoid the trick or treaters that way.:)

Out here things come to a screatching hault after the derby. Most shops close up the week after. I rarely see anyone on the beach anymore.

Try the canal.... if its over on the outer and islands the shortcut is still loaded off and on right now.
