Got Stripers 11-03-2003, 08:31 PM I've never lost it and I've been in #^&#^&#^&#^& that would make even the strongest stomachs hurl. The closest I came was the Haterus storm, 52 foot racing sloop finishing up the Bermuda Circuit I was on the crew bringing her back to NY. Those were 60+ foot seas, way outide, 2 hour watches and then down below. I don't know if anyone has been on a racing sloop before, well it ain't the Ritz and when your in a hanging bunk, while the bow of the boat is rising and fallling 20 feet constantly, you feel it. I came close a few times, but never lost it. Dave up and down, follow me, up and down, no further up and down, come on Dave, up and down. gilligan 11-03-2003, 08:43 PM hey dave aint you one of those guys who say fish caught from a boat don"t count because it's too easy. :D . i've been there" :crying: it sucks.:yak: :yak: :yak: likwid 11-03-2003, 08:47 PM Originally posted by Got Stripers I've never lost it and I've been in #^&#^&#^&#^& that would make even the strongest stomachs hurl. Especially in the southern waters, after a couple of days, throw in some salt water, a couple sick crew, maybe some diesel in the bilge now all over the deck sole!!!! Yup, and our Bubba was on the head as we fell off a wave, snapped it off clean. This BN is retired. likwid 11-03-2003, 11:05 PM After the 2nd day you don't notice the stench down below anymore. :D chris L 11-04-2003, 08:21 AM DONT THINK ABOUT IT !!! the worse thing you can do is constantly think about being sick and swell action . its the UpAnDdOwNuPaNdDoWnUpAnDdOwN that you DONT want to think about it . Ive been out in the chit alot in Dec and Jan storms cod fishing and have weathered well . SO far ! My buddy had a problem constantly breaking them off on those that got sick , claiming " I never get sick Im a fishermen " . well his day came in not so violent seas and he blew chuncks all over . I still bust his chops some 20 years later . Never break balls on those that do and never say never cause some day it will happen and thats the 4th guarentee . right in between eat , chit, and die ! just watch out for the UpAnDdOwNuPaNdDoWnUpAnDdOwNUpAnDdOwNuPaNdDoWnUpAnD dOwNUpAnDdOwNuPaNdDoWnUpAnDdOwN by the way all this talk of Dave how did Notaro fair with the fish ? fishweewee 11-04-2003, 08:45 AM I think fatigue plays a factor in getting seasick too. The more tired you are, the more susceptible you will be to getting seasick. This is just based on my own experience. Dave didn't get much sleep the night before - having gotten up at 4 a.m. to make the trip up to Quincy. In retrospect I wasn't surprised he got sick - just wish we had prepared for this contingency beforehand. Oh well, next trip... Nebe 11-04-2003, 08:49 AM Wendy's double cheese burgers and ocean swells just don't mix. Especially when the boat is just sitting still rolling with the swells... The best cure for sea sickess is a little puff of... um... uh.. well, you know! And thats coming from someone who hates the stuff. bassmaster 11-04-2003, 09:01 AM :hidin: :yak: :zup: :yak5: :yak6: :yak4: :scream: :scream:   all of U wise arses better hope I dont get You on the sand  Notaro 11-04-2003, 09:47 AM Originally posted by fishweewee And to think...that Notaro had some spare Dramamine on him in the boat. :laughs: Right, I did. And also I had some ginger ale to remedy his seasickness. But he wouldn't take it. fishweewee 11-04-2003, 10:22 AM Well, Joseph, to be fair, once Dave started feeling sick there wasn't anything you could have done to reverse the inevitable. That's why it's important to be prepared before the boat leaves the dock... Notaro 11-04-2003, 10:40 AM I agree with you. My dad once gave me a dramine on the boat when I got a seasickness. It didn't work. The only thing worked for me is to sleep it off for a full day. fishweewee 11-04-2003, 01:00 PM Originally posted by Eben Wendy's double cheese burgers and ocean swells just don't mix. I was about 13 and jigging blues on the 125ft Jamaica party boat. It was about 8-10 footers out there that day. We were bailing monster blues though so I puked while reeling and kept fishing. The fishing made me feel much better. Nebe 11-04-2003, 03:52 PM I'm serious.. :D chris L 11-04-2003, 03:56 PM weed wont help sea sickness ! not that I have any idea of its effects on the mind or stomach . I never exhaled ! Gloucester2 11-05-2003, 07:31 PM Sorry I put this up here . . . . Dave was a Trooper - never complained once - although he did mention at one point "Thanks Ben - get up at 4 AM, drive 100 miles, eat two BK burgers and puke all day - some friend you Effin are" Let's put this one to bed. BTW, those couple of times came when I was inside a cabin. Once I'm back on deck and getting fresh air, I can usually come back to life. Bassman18 11-06-2003, 09:40 AM Been on boats in almost all kinds of weather, never got seasick...don't worry, I'll have fun when the time comes.
