Has anyone had experience with both of these reels. I'm planning on asking my girlfiend for the Thunnus for Christmas (I've learned that its better to ask her for something specific rather than letting her decide). I'm just looking for some info from people who've used both and opinions on whether the Thunnus is worth the extra money. I have onr the the original Baitrunners which is a great real and has served me well for over 4 years, even though the new "B" ones are much better.

I have both . . . go with the Baitrunner. Thunnus is too heavy (metal body) :smash:

I have 3 baitrunners and love them, especially the price!

Big improvements with the newer "B" model Baitrunner. Go with that and save weight and money. Functionally, they're the same. Maybe you can throw in a few more goodies with the extra cash.;)

I have all the Baitrunners and the smaller Thunnus. Unless you're targeting big fish from a boat, listen to the others and get a baitrunner. The Thunnus is a beast on big fish from a boat, but much too heavy for pluggin. I landed a tarpon up to 95# on a Thunnus, and it handled it very well. For an in between look at the Penn Liveliner.

Maybe I'm the only one but I've had a lot of problems with the anti-reverse on the baitrunners. My original baitrunner worked great but the ones I've bought over the last few years have been a problem. I've actually switched to Penn despite the price.

on the boat i have been very happy with the smaller thunnus's. have gotten bass, small bluefin, and some mahi on them the last couple of seasons without a problem. considering the larger ones for strictly offshore use next year.
