I picked up a copy of "On The Run" a few weeks back and got a lot of flack from my family when I brought it home as they were going to get that for me for an Xmas gift. Well, when I finally got a chance to start reading the first chapter, my 10yo who has to do 45 min of reading a night for school was complaining about not being able to find an interesting book...I said..."here, read this" and told him about the guys who swim way out in the surf while night fishing...he looked excited and got into it that night (he likes to fish with me and thinks going at night is real cool)

Well I go away for a business trip for a few days and when I return the wife comes up to me and says "That Iron Mikes' use of the language has confused your son" Evidently my son did not know how the word F**K was being used. I have not read it but it sounds like he frequently uses this word.

Oh well..I suppose I had to explain it to him sometime. Now I am really excited about reading the book.

At least it is not a video.

That's a funny story.

That chapter on Iron Mike, Tattoo and Fish-Eye had me laughing out loud.

Glad you guys found it amusing...you should have been there when Iron Mike (yeah, the guy with the 50 and 60 pound surf caught stripers to his credit) starting spontaneously erupting with the word F*&%k YELLED out for no apparent reason...other than the fact he must have wanted the women in the bathroom to fall off the toilet seat. The boy can fish, but get a few beers in him and anything is possible.

Yes that is a funny part,

Sandman - I got a copy of it after reading your post and when I got the part when Mike starts "F"ing away I immediately thought about what you experienced.

Oh well. It reminded me of when I read my dads copy of "Guadacanal Diary" when I was 10.

Same results. Some beautiful new words added to my vocabulary

:D

Fisheye,

I have to get some copies of your work. Only have seen bits here and there. Awesome stuff !
