Bought this from Tattoo last winter and wanted to use it but economy forces selling some stuff. So, here is a Penn 140 Squidder with the chrome spool and two spare spools (red & black). Pretty smooth real and in pretty good shape.

Looking for $50 or best offer... See pics:

I have read many a post about these reels, what makes them so good? I am being serious, not sarcastic. I've never used one before.

Sold...

Crewdog - just solid - beat the pi$$ out of them - reels. Very simple and solid, good line capacity.

I like the Squidders and they cast nice with them plastic spools.:kewl:

I imagine that these are not in production any more? I have heard that they are hard to cast, any truth to that? Is it still available? What length rod would this pair up with?
Thanks

Crew-Dog, the Squidder is still a current Penn reel. Matter of fact, it's among the oldest continuous production reels made. Ya just can't buy them new with the plastic spools anymore. They can be tough casting but once you get it down, they're pretty sweet. If you're thinking about one, check Ebay. There's usually some there. You can also literally change the spool in a matter of seconds which can save you a lot of time on the water.
