Making an order tonight for some cod jigs.....want to know which ones I should have at all times and the best sizes.....also a link where to get them?
Fishing is off the Bunny Clark, Helen H, Yankee fleet and all those boats, plus an occasional charter like the AveMaria if I get a chance to go on.
Have about $100 to spend. Any ideas?
thanks!:D

What you ask is almost impossible to answer!! The weight you need will be different at different times!! You can go in 60 feet of water and get away with 10 oz today but you can go there next week and the tide different and running like heck and lucky if you can hold with 18oz!
If I were you I would buy a few different jigs from let say 14oz to 21 oz and when you have a couple extra bucks build on that. It really sucks to have 1 of each and find that you hold well with a 18 oz and you just lost the only one you had.
Call up the charter that you are going on and ask them what weight they have been using when they go, and try to have a couple of them.
$100 is not alot if you start losing them!! The Vikings can go for $15 + each. If your new to jigging take the hooks off the bottom of the jig when you get them. This will less likely to hook up on the bottom. You might lose a few fish this way but they take the teasers most of the time anyway. Once you get a feel for jigging you can put the hooks back on.
I make my own pipe jigs. Some are in stainless pipe some in alumaim, and some in crome bathroom pipe. Might not look the best but much cheaper.
Well Good Luck !!
