a friend sent me this email today
and we confermed it with lots of other guys on the canal lots of 33" fish
Good Luck

Quick little Canal head's up for ya. I'll add more details to my website later.

Met up with a friend of mine at the Mussel Bed around 7:30 AM, but I was a bit late in getting there after waiting to get my live
herring in Wareham. The tide was close to turning slack when I got there. Bill had landed one and dropped another before I
arrived, but with the tide slowing down, we decided to head west.

We hit a spot over near the mud flats. It was a lot of work getting back out there, but it was worth it. We had a nice rip all to
ourselves and managed my best "early season" canal trip ever. Between the two of us we landed 14 stripers, 6 of which were
over 30"-33". We also missed our share of runs and I even broke one off.

They were all fresh (with sea lice and all) and VERY strong. Funny, when things were real hot I experimented with chunk herring
and even a few whole ones with no eyes to see if they'd hit. Nothing. Throw in a live herring and BAM!

My first fish of the year was a keeper.

What a blast. My best opening day ever. Just gotta be at the right place though. Didn't see much else going on in other areas....
