Got Stripers

that while reading the 1800's striper article published in this months OTW, that they lamented over the commercial netters taking menhadden and the affects it was having on the striper fishery. Here we are 100+ years later and what have we learned? People were putting 2 and 2 together as far as the 1800's and still we let the commercial netters wipe out an important fishery.

I noticed that one to Bob..... seems everyone wants what they want and figure all will be ok in the long run or don`t care with a get it while you can attitude and enforcement of regs is poor and difficult.
Good article though!

I really enjoyed that issue. The old re-print was very interesting, I wish they printed the entire thing. One of my favorite islands to fish around is Pasque. I can't imagine thumb-draggin a big fish on the line they must have had back then...:tm:
BTW great job on your article gs! After reading part two I went back and re-read part one again. I didn't use my ledgerunners as much as I should have this past fall...got stuck in a live bait mode for a time. But I did have some pretty good success on a few outings with them in the spring but still didn't use them enough to become really proficient with them as I would like to be. You should get the re-prints and include them with each sale. Your product is really excellent, I have shown them to a few guys and their response was...ooooh, where'dyagethat?
My only question/concern with the rigging is the effectiveness of hooking. In the near weedless mode, with the hookpoint and gap nearly covered, do you think you miss many fish on the set?

Hey nothing wrong with live bait, if our water's were full of schools of large adult bunker, I'd have something other then plastic on the end of my line.
As for the hookpoint being almost inside the plastic, you will be surprised how good a hooker that set up is. Trust me if it weren't I'd not be still fishing it after over a decade. Sometimes when the rats are about, it's just a matter of misses and smaller mouths, but still it's a very good rig and hook.
