View Full Version : Favorite Holiday Movies?
BigFish 12-06-2003, 11:05 PM Just finished watching The Christmas Story with FishChick and my kids! Great Christmas movie, one of my favorites and a perfect night to watch it! :lurk: Just curious about what some of your favorite Holiday movies might be? Here is my list in order of favorite!
1. It's A Wonderful Life- probably my favorite all time movie also, big Jimmy Stewart fan, have seen this movie, without exageration, about 400 times minimum!:uhuh: Got the words memorized from start to finish! Simply the best.:kewl:
2. Christmas Story- close second, only seen this one about 200 times! Funny, funny, funny!
3. Miracle On 34th Street- not the remake...the original with Natalie Wood, this was my Dads favorite, and many a Christmas we would watch it together, kind of tradition.
4. White Christmas- Bing Crosby always a favorite, simply a classic movie. Danny Kaye is great with Rose Mary Clooney.
5. Holiday Inn- The Binger again, he made some great movies and they do not make them like this anymore! Fred Astaire is a plus.
6. Bells Of St Mary's- Baddah Bing again....another classic with the Bingster.
7. The Gathering- a very touching movie, if ya ain't seen it...do! Stars Ed Asner of Mary Tyler Moore fame.
8. A Christmas Carol- a #^&#^&#^&#^&ens classic, there are so many versions however the best one is the original 1938 with Reginald Lockhart and family, his daughter is June Lockhart of Lost In Space fame, she is in the movie. They never show this on television anymore! Always show the crappy ones.
By the way, I never watch the colorized version of an originally black and white movie....to me that is a sin!
Got any favorites? Did I forget any?

macojoe 12-07-2003, 11:26 AM I have seen most of those movies over the years!!
But i am not much of a Xmas kind of a guy!! I hate all the disruption in my regular life that comes with it!!
I like being in my own little world doing what I want. I hate having to go to all these peoples houses and stuff. I hate rearranging the house to make room for the tree and all that stuff!! I told my wife when the kids are all grown (3 more years) I am buying a 2 foot tree all lit and decorated and thats all i want to see!
BUT I LOVE THE GIFTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:laughs:

rwilhelm 12-08-2003, 10:29 AM Christmas Story is my favorite a true classic.
Jimbo 12-08-2003, 12:39 PM I think you guys hit most of our favorites. Sometimes I like to go in my archives, and though they aren't Xmax flicks per se, sometimes I like to watch some of my war movies that might just take place over Xmas, or in the snow, like John said. Like Battle of the Bulge or 12 O'Clock High. Makes me feel for the military folk who are workin' or worked in harsh times keeping peace on earth for me while I have it all warm and cherry. But, ya can't beat Cousin Eddie emptying his septic tank in the sewer and "Save the neck for me Clark."
I always liked The Little Drummer Boy, too.
RIROCKHOUND 12-08-2003, 05:52 PM Forgot Scrooged, my alltime favorite!
hooked 12-08-2003, 06:27 PM "The Ref"

Big Vern 12-09-2003, 03:53 PM What the F people? Two pages of replies yet only one nomination for National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation which is head and shoulders above all other Christmas films. It simply doesn't get any better than Christmas Vacation, and it is a Holiday requirement for me.
Notaro 12-10-2003, 10:57 AM the gremlins 1 and 2
