I tried to call them but their answering machine is all fouled up . thanks in advance JohnR 05-09-2001, 10:19 AM I don't know what number you were using but there is a number on their website here: http://www.nps.gov/caco/activities/oversand/index.html chris L 05-09-2001, 10:46 AM (508 487-3698 is the number on their site and the one I called it rings picks up with a beep and then silence and the you here the machine will hang up now then click your done . I cant remember if they sell them during the weekend or not and I have a small window to get them this year (about 12 hours)thats 4 hrs to get there 4 hrs there and 4 hours home . I already missed out on my LI permit till after labor day . no big deal they are easier to get and cheaper $40 ythanks john JohnR 05-09-2001, 11:13 AM I think they do Saturday until noon but no Sundays - Jenn knows when they are open and she usually hits the site in the evenings... chris L 05-09-2001, 11:50 AM thanks john Jenn 05-09-2001, 09:48 PM Hey Chris...here you go...(508)-487-2100 That should be the one. But just in case this is the # to the provincelands visitors center 508-487-1256 They may not be able to tell you specifics there, but will send you in the right direction anyway. I think the # you had is for conditions and such. I am pretty sure they sell seven days a week, or they used to anyway and the hours are I think 9:00- 3 or 4?? at least three anyway, but the may break for lunch so you might want to double check before you go. I heard some rumors of fishies in the area so dont forget the gear!!! :) But save some for me! Hee, Hee, Hee! Jenn 05-09-2001, 09:51 PM woo! I just noticed the smoking dude appeared because I use parenthesis (sp?) I am sure you can figure out the 508 ?? maybe it is a sign!! 8) chris L 05-10-2001, 07:20 AM thanks jenn I thought they did sell 7 days , but someone put some dought in my head and I wasnt positive as Ive always gotten mine during the week . Ive heard the same of fishes , my gear never leave home with out it . The smokey guy happened to me too but I know its 508 . also thanks for the numbers again thanks and go fishing chris lane chris L 05-10-2001, 03:17 PM jenn your right the # is 1-508-487-2100 as of this morning there were at least 2 permits left for me and you . they sell them 7 days from 9am to 430pm . plenty left from what they told me . Im going up next weekend before the gas gets to high . thanks again jenn Jenn 05-10-2001, 11:24 PM hey no need because I already HAVE mine! only problem is the vehicle it is on is currently out of commission! :( I just HAD to take a drive on the beach when I got the permit....now I feel like I just teased myself and am dying to go again! question for ya...I noticed on the map that they had from race point through high head open.....is this new do you know??? or has that always been and I just never realized it because it was closed every time we went??? Just around the bend after mission bell looks like it might be a nice spot... :) :) :) chris L 05-11-2001, 09:21 AM At the air station go east pass over the main road and follow the trail . the first area you come too is good as there is a sandbar that goes for a few miles . Also be careful at leaving the beach high head its a little bit uneasing to some people going up over the dunes . also remember there are closures and the area nearest high head isnt open till mid july jmorinshb 05-11-2001, 01:48 PM I believe they are open 7 days a week, 9-4. they opened up the beach all the way to High head last year, after the piping plovers were done nesting. I believe it's slated to open in late July this year. JohnR 05-11-2001, 02:24 PM Jmorinshb... Welcome aboard! Good to see another Rho Dyslander here.... Jenn 05-11-2001, 10:38 PM see we have gone out onto High Head from that access point (yes a little hairy but doable if your careful) but access only went off to the right.....and you couldnt get to that point from Race Point....to drive straight through would be SWEET! :) :) :)...or maybe not drive right htrough but make some stops along the way :P JohnR 05-12-2001, 08:46 AM There is a great map here with dates (approximate) when various sections are open: http://www.nps.gov/caco/activities/oversand/route.html Jenn 05-13-2001, 09:06 PM I have seen that map...but unfortunately it doesnt always mean........... :( vBulletin® v3.8.7, Copyright ©2000-2025, vBulletin Solutions, Inc.
