View Full Version : Anybody Get Their Fisherman Magazine Last Week?
BigFish 12-10-2003, 05:52 PM Just curious if anybody got their copy of The Fisherman last week? It usually shows up on the stands around me on Wednesday, but it never showed up! This was last week so it had nothing to do with snow! Went out today and could not find this weeks yet either? Is there a problem with the magazine?
Goose 12-10-2003, 06:19 PM they start drinkin every year around this time :D
Slipknot 12-10-2003, 06:38 PM I thought there were only 50 issues a year.
BigFish 12-10-2003, 06:41 PM Yeah...I think your right Goose, doesn't everyone?:buds: Slip your right, but the two issues they don't put out are the week of Christmas and the week of New Years! Did any of you guys receive one last week?
Slipknot 12-10-2003, 06:47 PM They just chose you to not deliver to because you are grumpy:mad:
BigFish 12-10-2003, 06:53 PM My subscription lapsed a few weeks ago so I have been getting it at my local B & T shops. Nobody got it!:af: Yeah...I am gonna have to post this in Grumpin' forum!:splat:

Bill L 12-10-2003, 08:56 PM I didn't get mine either, but I think they skip some issues in December, check the fine print in the publishing info in the last issue
sfrances 12-10-2003, 09:05 PM My friend Harry owns a tackle store and has informed me that they are comming every 2 weeks at this time of yaer. I believe its supposed to be like this thru feb!!! :smash: :af:
Bill L 12-10-2003, 09:46 PM I remembered finding this after not getting mine at one point:
Page 3 of Nov 6 issue: "The NEW ENGLAND FISHERMAN is published weekly, except for two weeks in December by the N.E.F. Publishing Corportation...."
BigFish 12-10-2003, 09:53 PM That is the last two weeks in December for like the third time, and for the fifth time, has anyone gotten theirs or even laid eyes on last weeks issue. :eyes: Did anyone get a Fisherman magazine last week, yes or no? Christian...we need ice to go ice fishing! I will let you know when it is time to go!:kewl:
Bill L 12-10-2003, 09:59 PM That is the last two weeks in December for like the third time

leptar 12-11-2003, 12:03 AM they have a website to sign up on? or do you have to fill out that form in the magazine?
Jonny Bolt 12-11-2003, 01:21 AM Dont have that one. But OTW is good this month.
piemma 12-11-2003, 04:23 AM Funny you guys should mention this. I was getting ready to b&%%$#h at the post office because mine gets robbed every now and then. I have not got an issue of the Fisherman for 2 weeks.:af:
BigFish 12-11-2003, 09:33 AM Thanks guys...time to start bishin'!:af:
chris L 12-11-2003, 09:35 AM no last week yes this week . they dont have issues during christmas and new yaers and that is 50 weeks . Ive been a subscriber for a long time and thats the way it always has been .
now this weeks is a waste cause its the buy a boat issue .
Mr. Sandman 12-11-2003, 10:03 AM The fisherman always gets a little weak around the winter months. They have some great articles now and then and a larger double Xmas issue (I think).
I enjoy getting it all season. My only complaint is that they don't have an archive of all the older issues online. I would be willing to pay a second subscription price to be able to search for certain past articles and then download them. I use to save them but I always miss placed or lost the issue and they took up a lot of space and it was a pain to look thru each one seeking that article I remember reading 3 or 4 seasons ago.
Also, from a log standpoint it would be interesting to go back as well all look at past reports for certain places/weeks. It is such a shame cause there was a LOT of good stuff in there and it is lost forever if you can't acess it.
(hint...I HOPE THEY DO THIS!)
Notaro 12-11-2003, 10:37 AM Sandman, do you have to be a member to surf on the fisherman website? I opened the website address and it isn't there.
Mr. Sandman 12-11-2003, 10:40 AM I dind't know they even had a website.
Notaro 12-11-2003, 10:45 AM try this, www.thefisherman.com.
Bernzy 12-11-2003, 10:47 AM I just got off the phone with the Fisherman office in Mystic. They told me that there was no Dec. 4th issue and that the Dec 11 issue will be a double issue and also the last issue of the year.
Bernzy
piemma 12-11-2003, 10:50 AM You can't log on to the website without a password. At least I couldn't.
Notaro 12-11-2003, 10:51 AM That's what I am talking about.
Mr. Sandman 12-11-2003, 10:56 AM I bet that is for internal (publishing) use. I have never heard about a web site for users...It would be a GREAT idea to have that info and past online!
I don't know what the publishing rights are on those articles are and that might be a sticking point but as I said I for one would be willing to pay for the ability to search for past issue articles.
piemma 12-11-2003, 11:15 AM I would also although I did keep all back issues since 94. Last winter were we going to move so I went through every issue and cut out articles I wanted to keep. Ended up with 3 big 3 ring binders full. Never did move either.
Mr. Sandman 12-11-2003, 11:18 AM I buy those binders from you....$100 but before I commit do you have most of the articles? I would ratherhave an searchable electonic version but I would like to go back and look at them.
Anyone else have a complete collection of the fisherman going back a decade or more?
piemma 12-11-2003, 12:32 PM Not for sale Mr. Sandman. Tell me what you are looking for and, if I have an article on the subject, I'll make copies and send them to you. I can tell you that 90% of what I kept is Striper related and specifically in the surf.
fishweewee 12-11-2003, 12:55 PM I cancelled my Fisherman subscriptions years ago.
I will say the New England edition was the best one.
Now I have problems with my OTW subscription getting to me on time.
I caught my mail delivery guy browsing through it once.
Can't they ship these things in plain brown wrappers? :hihi:
-WW
piemma 12-11-2003, 12:59 PM One time I didn't get my OTW for 2 months. I called OTW and they put a trace on my mags and found them with "spagetti sauce stains" on them in the PO in Providence. Ba$%#tds were eating lunch and reading my fishing mags.
fishweewee 12-11-2003, 01:00 PM :laughs:
Like I said, I wish they would ship in plain brown paper wrapper. :laughs:
striprman 12-11-2003, 04:21 PM I got mine in the mail today
MrsSFrances 12-11-2003, 04:24 PM we got ours in the mail today also...
piemma 12-11-2003, 04:41 PM me too
BigFish 12-11-2003, 05:05 PM Yes folks, but did any of you that get it delivered receive one last week and if not, didn't you find it curious?:smash: :smash: :smash: :smash: :smash:
piemma 12-12-2003, 11:28 AM i did not get one last week. But maybe we were not suppose to. I don't care at this point in the season.
Bill L 12-12-2003, 01:04 PM Bigfish, Bernzy answered your question on page 2:
I just got off the phone with the Fisherman office in Mystic. They told me that there was no Dec. 4th issue and that the Dec 11 issue will be a double issue and also the last issue of the year.
The "double issue" came in my mail yesterday
MakoMike 12-12-2003, 02:30 PM I also got my "double issue" yesterday, but nothing last week. But at this point, who cares? The fat lady has sung.
BigFish 12-12-2003, 03:52 PM As long as you guys don't mind gettin' only 49 issues when you should have gotten 50. Thats all I am sayin'. :buds:
BigFish 12-12-2003, 03:54 PM By the way, they have done double issues in the past but not at the expense of shorting the readers one issue, it was a double issue because they have a two week hiatus during the holidays!
Mr. Sandman 12-12-2003, 03:58 PM Let them take a vacation for a ffew weeks...they earned it! I can do without it in late Dec and Jan and Feb
