Anyone have first hand experience or have seen it in person?
striperjerk1 12-13-2003, 11:59 AM that does look good. but no dimensions on it. cheap price to for lockable. i called the nearest dealer and he has none in stock, special order. i would definatly be interested in this to, but would like to see it first before i commit. i wonder if it has drain holes on the bottom?
BasicPatrick 12-13-2003, 09:10 PM FYI
this rack was in the 2003 thule catalog. the product was to be released in spring 2003. Production problems moved the release to September 2003 but then no word. I have been calling a major thule dealer since I have been on the waiting list for almost a year now. LAst info they had was a Spring 2004 release.
I do know that some test models were sold and a friend from Maine has one. this rack will fit 4 10 foot rods with good sized reels. This is quality.
striperjerk1 12-14-2003, 10:28 AM Thank BP, what i needed was the inside box dimensions, what reels actually do fit. my biggest is a 704z.
jugstah 12-16-2003, 12:05 PM man, that looks like a sweet rod rack for the top of my truck, and if it can hold 4 10fters no problem, that'd be great.. but my concern is whether it's sufficiently "secure" to prevent those damn thieves from attempting to steal my sheet.
Jimbo 12-16-2003, 01:03 PM That's the sort of thing I've been looking for, but first I need to find an aftermarket roof rack for a 2001 F-150 Super crew cab. Anyone familiar where I could find something like that. I'm sure any local bodyshop could install it, right?
BEETLE 12-16-2003, 02:51 PM I think I saw it on ebay if memory is correct - $110. (with Buy it now)
Mr. Sandman 12-16-2003, 05:17 PM Wow. That is the best looking Rod Rack I have seen. Most of the others are lame. I have a ton a Thule stuff...currently I use the ski rack and that has worked better then any rod rack UP UNTIL I SAW THIS ONE... I like to leave my rods on the truck...with this I could leave them on all summer. What is nice about this it keeps the reels out of the sun and weather (and out of sight of the dirtbags)
That forward mount looks a little weird though...I would like to check it out in person.
bud8fan 12-16-2003, 10:25 PM Ok Guys!
Here are the dimensions I received in an email from Thule!!
Box 16.5"(front to back) x 18.5"(width) x 7.5"(high),
Arch 21" (width) x 4.5" (high) x 2"
Yes, there are drain holes in the box.
From the sounds of the email they are readily available but I didnt ask yet!

tlapinski 01-04-2004, 12:19 PM there is a right up in either the most recent week's fisherman or the one prior. too bad it only holds 4 rods, 2 if you use reels the size of a 704 or bigger. i don't think i have EVER gone fishing with that few. it is a good idea, though.
i have been trying to figure out a way to build a box system to cover my reels. i saw a good set up one day this summer on top of a van coming off the cape. the only thing i did not like about that set up was that it was made of wood. there has to be a better way to make it .........
