With all the formalities taken care of, all the icidental trades that had to be arranged in order to make the A-Rod deal work, it seems by what I am hearing is that they could make the official announcement at any time now!:bounce: I feel like a kid on Christmas morning, imagine...the Red Sox actually will have the best 1-2 pitching punch in all of baseball, "AND" the best player in the entire game today!:kewl: I just can't believe it!!! Someone pinch me, I can't wait for opening day!:bgi: :bgi: :bgi:

The players union stopped the trade for now..Both teams have until tomorrow 5:00 pm to try to work things out..:af:
Ive' never understood why the league puts a deadline on a trade in the offseason. So if they come to an agreement over the weekend, they aren't allowed to do it? Total nonsense
Sounds like the players union is working against one of it's players best interest.
Cal, not that I don't agree with you that it's bull#@T that MLB puts deadline on trades, but their suposed rational is that deadlines minimize the impact of trades on other players and teams, i.e. the whole nomar,to Chicago for Ordonez, then Nomar from Chicago to LA scenario. By imposing deadlines, the league is telling players and teams to get the deal done so other teams and players can make their next move.
I don't agree with it, but I believe that's what MLB is trying to do.
