View Full Version : HOLD OVER TRIP scarecrow 12-19-2003, 10:49 AM Anyone wanna go with me it its 300 dollars for two people we would go for 8 hours. Got Stripers 12-19-2003, 06:27 PM Crips and I only ask people kick in on the gas money. Thanks I've got a handle on the holdovers, although I'd still love a shot at them southern holdovers. Notaro 12-19-2003, 10:41 PM where and what trip is this, scarecrow? scarecrow 12-20-2003, 07:05 PM Blaine Anderson fishingct.com JohnR 12-20-2003, 07:26 PM This isn't trolling wire for schoolies in the Thames is it :rollem: ? Notaro 12-20-2003, 11:10 PM Connecticut, forget it, I can't go. And I am on a tight budget, man. tlapinski 12-21-2003, 10:06 AM guys, blaine is a legit guide. should be jigging for the hold overs. he is a good friend of mine he put clients into some huge fish this year in L.I. sound. here is one of three over 49" he caught back in october. this is the 52"er. http://www.fishingct.com/images/photos/lis/10-28-03blaine52inch3a.jpg JohnR 12-21-2003, 10:33 AM Toby - is Al Anderson his dad? Al Anderson is the one that wireline's umbrella rigs thru the holdover schoolies, right? I just don't think an umbrella rig on wire in the tight confines of the Thames where the schoolies are packed in super tight is remotely challenging - granted it is fish. I'm not anti - wire or trolling or jigging, whatever. But having fished that area a bit, if you are gonna wire line an umbrella rig in there, you might as well drag a net... tlapinski 12-21-2003, 10:47 AM pretty sure his dad is not Al. i hear ya on the umbrella thing. nothing like catching 8 12" stripers on one set up connected to a 4/0 reel loaded with wire.  :smash: JohnR 12-21-2003, 10:51 AM Originally posted by t.lapinski pretty sure his dad is not Al. i hear ya on the umbrella thing. nothing like catching 8 12" stripers on one set up connected to a 4/0 reel loaded with wire.  :smash: Especially when three of them are stuck together 'cause of Thameslime :yak: Got Stripers 12-21-2003, 08:50 PM Capt. Al wasn't wire lining today, maybe the client wanted finesse and light tackle. I was cleaning their clock thou, man the marker bouy yellow 4" little jerk was hammered today, 30 fish by 10. I ended up with just over 60 fish, with 6 pushing 25 inches. Great day, too bad none of the sb boys could come play today. Merry Xmas to me. One of the guys got a 38 inch fish and last weekend the first fish I dropped was a 34-36 inch fish, so there are some nice ones in the river. Blaine's a nice guy, had him in my boat only once, but he took some great footage of the Thames stripers last year. I'd not have the composure to stop fishing long enough when they are stacked that thick under the boat, but Blaine filmed for a long time without casting. Clammer 12-21-2003, 09:26 PM Finally you saw the light ===========================toooo the right color:) Got Stripers 12-21-2003, 09:35 PM I'd have thrown it before Mike, but I heard there weren't any bluefish left in the river:). Clammer 12-21-2003, 09:40 PM Bob , @#$%^5 & the BLOOOOOOOOOfish:smash: JohnR 12-22-2003, 01:29 AM Ahhhhh - THAT'S the Blaine - OK - that's cool - not who I was thinking.... mrmacey 12-22-2003, 04:53 AM who trolls hes there to tag fish not catch and release with an umbrella I give that guy alot of credit he is down there all the time tagging those fish If I am right he charters to catch and tag fish for the day is that right bob or am I missing something. tlapinski 12-22-2003, 06:43 AM capt al tags several thousand fish per year, but gets very few returned tags. i always thought that the tagging procedure was not best suited for the fish in the river in winter. i think it puts too much stress on the fish. what he does always seemed like overkill to me. vBulletin® v3.8.7, Copyright ©2000-2025, vBulletin Solutions, Inc.
