I'm sooooo pissed off right now it isn't even funny. This old guy on CAPE COD is making me a new custom pole. Big dollar surf stick. Well he calls the other day so I can go pick it up. I'm geeked as I go to his house. Fat is not how I would descibe it, way cooler! So I'm looking at it and notice the first guide is cocked to the left, all the rest are in line. So I tell him nicely the guide is off. This old s.o.b. tells me I can get use to it! This pole has cost me 350 dollars so far. I'm not getting used to any thing but perfection. So I tell him to do it over, and the old pudd gives me a dirty look! Mark my words,I'll get back at this #^&#^&#^&#^& some how.:af: :af: :smash: :smash: :smash: :smash: :behead:

You should have gotten a look at the piece of crap rod I had built last winter....$350.00...promised fuji reel seat and all....got the rod, air bubbles throughout the entire rod, the epoxy around the guides was not great so all last summer I got water under the guides in the rod wrap, and it did not have a Fuji reel seat, so needless to say I will not go there again and I will not ever recommend him to anyone. The guy was supposed to be a reputable rod-builder.....he sucked!:af:

O.K. I'm still mad, and when I go backto get it from him it better be right. The problem I have is I bought the blank, 10ft Arra . His name is Walter Barnes in sandwich!:af:

Bruce Miller at Canal Bait and Tackle is the "Rodbuilder", for lack of a better term (family friendly)! A good buddy of Ron Arra from what he says, anyway the guy makes an absolute crap stick, but I guess I am the fool! What are ya gonna do? So consider yourself fairwarned, stick with reputable builders and good luck!:af:

Oh....he built the same rod for my buddy at the same time and it came out the exact same way, piece of crap on a nice 1205 blank....so pissed off I feel like cutting it up into six inch lengths and mailing it back to him with a nice letter of recommendation......to stick it up his A$$!:af: :af: :af:

BF, strip it and rewrap it, or have it done. Blank must still be good.
No need to cut it up, unless you feel he needs the "input" ;)

I did the 1205 too, beautiful blank. The colors I chose go with the blank great too. Still can't believe he said "you wont have any problems casting and it's a shame to do it over" A canal rat , who's a very good friend, couldn't believe he even called to have me take it! When he asked what I wanted and I told him, he ended up talking me out of it. I should have known right then. I could have screwed it up like that.:hidin:

I*m curious as to what you got for 350.00 as in style of guides-how many and what type-- cork or eva grips--seat-- and mostly what kind of wrap.I believe the XRA1205 blank retail is around 200.00 now. I hope you didnt have to supply the blank.what did he talk you out of and YES it should have been done how you wanted it and without question the guides should have been straight unless you were having it sprialwrapped.

Just giving credit where credit is due I had a one piece Ara stick done by Saltheart last spring. I consider myself a very intricate judge of fine detail and I can tell you that Saltheart is truly a craftsman. I had him make 2 other rods for me after the Ara stick.
Go with recommendations from people you trust....
