I will say this for ebay!

You can always get some of the direct from Sweden Ambassadeurs for a great price well before they have even gotten through to the US!

The new Pro Rockets are all over Ebay right now.
Sweet Black color with etched gold lettering.

Profit made off ebay! Yes it can be done!!

Last week I sold two Earnhardt Jr. 1/24 scale diecast for over $350!! Paid less than $80 when I first purchased them!

I've seen some sweet European Abus, like the 7200CT.
Gun Shy when it comes to bidding. Don't know the first thing about it. Tempting.

I am right handed, but I tried that swap-hands-every-time-you-cast-thing, and I hated it. The first baitcaster I bought was a Bantam Curado 100...took it back a week later and got the 101. My oldest son uses the Corsair lefty that I have and can cast a mile w/it...pretty good for a seven year old!! He only had a few bird-nests when learning (less than 10)...the kid is a natural!

We all thought that you were a lefty looking for left-handed reel. Now we know where you are coming from. I gave that a thought once ...but why change the way I reel now, I been doing it that way for years. Good luck with your new toys!

I*ve bought a lot of reels on ebay from vom-hofes to a couple of penn 130H*s--one still brand new in box no. 0000285--have only been stiffed a couple of times on condition of reels and elated by condition of others.Have bought reels from the 1800*s to brand new Penns- newells-shimanos-abu garcias.Bid what you want to pay depending on how much you want it.If the Suckers are biting it wont matter they will outbid no matter what. The snipes are the worst they dont bid until the very end and unless you have it covered in proxy bidding they win.Have won other stuff at short money when no one else has bid on it. Most are honest individuals just trying to make a buck or trying to get rid of something they dont use or want.Bought them from pawn shops selling on ebay to private sellers. Ask questions about conditions. Most can be returned or can be covered by buyer protection plan

I am new to the Ebay thing. I know what you mean by the snipes, I had 2 differant reels come down to the last minute, and lost both by a buck. Some people just $%#&, if ya know what I mean ;)
What is the average time you give someone to get the reel to you, if you use say Paypal, and they are paid right away?

marky1
12-28-2003, 03:55 PM
I used the Paypal method, they know they will get their money with no problems. I got my 7000C3 in like maybe 4 days after I won the bidding. The people that want money orders take the longest time to ship it out..even worse if they want personal checks...will take forever to get it!

I had a yellow Nautil 7500 down to the last couple of hours for like 57 bucks. Someone came along and bid 61. So I went back and bid 85 figure I would give myself a cushion. :smash: It said I was out bid. So I went to 90, same thing, 92 same thing, 95,it went to 96. You could buy one on there for 99 :af: So I sent the jerk an email to let him know he saved 3 bucks.

Hahahahahaha :laughs: Well, I made a huge bid on a conventional gear and it went up to over $60 and I retracted myself from it and the seller scolded at me via email that he never neglects an email message. I couldn't afford it. I bidded at least ten items and retracted a few. And the worst part is that I bidded on a #^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&'s and I could get a same price from his website! But hey, I got a needlefish!;)

Notaro ...

I am an avid ebayer and maybe I can answer a few things here. You said you bid on some gear and was outbid 4 times on it and then e-mailes the guy (or jerk as you put it) saying he saved 3 bucks, well he may have saved 3 bucks on the price outbidding you but he also had to pay shipping charges, so he saved nothing ... it cost him more than the item was worth.

But I also have to include this ... you said you bid on a few things and retracted your bids because you couldn't afford them, well when you do that the bid still stays up to the price that you bid and the next guy eats your error in bidding costing him more money. As the snipers where mentioned in this thread as being frowned upon so are the retractors because they both cause problems.

I have been on ebay for 3 years and have bought and sold on it and have done quite well in all my transactions, the reason for it is this " look at the feedback on the person you are dealing with" if there is any negative feedback look it up and see what the problem was, I personally won't deal with anyone with more than 5 negatives. Some people do get negatives from others that they either sold to or bought from for stupid reasons and this is called revenge feedback.

Ebay is awesome for alot of deals if you watch what you're doing and learn the system for bidding, almost 80% of items sold on ebay are bought by " snipers" its easy to do it, all you do is wait for the last 4 seconds of the auction and enter the most you would pay for the item and most of the time you'll win, after 3 seconds there isn't enough thime for someone to place another bid in time. I have 312 transactions on ebay and I'm sure I'll have alot more in the future.

Happy bidding! Go eBay!!!

I popped my E-bay bloo-cherry just before Christmas....I had a nephew who wanted some..(not sure if I'm spelling this right)...Yu-Gi-Oh cards. Some specially powered ones   ...I still don't know how the game works but whatever.....he was happy.

Of course, the first thing I did was check it for white powder... ...or any other kind of chemical substance:af: I would never forgive myself if I gave a gift that was contaminated.

I used Paypal and it still took 2 weeks

Wow..2 weeks..that's what I call a low blow. It seems like there are some jerks out there. That should have been sent out within 5 days MAX ! Or even received within 5 days.

Has anybody heard that they are going to try to make us pay tax on all internet purchases? That'll put a huge damper on ebay. F*@kin government won't cut us any breaks.:af: :af:

I CHECK ON A SEMI-REGULAR BASIS, TO SEE IF SOMETHING I WANT IS AVAILABLE (AT A GOOD PRICE).
I WAS ABLE TO PICK UP A BRAND NEW PENN 309 FOR $30.00
2 SILSTAR 10' SURFCASTING RODS, BOTH FOR $36
I'VE ALSO GOTTEN SOME REAL DEALS. I PICKED UP SOME BOAT RODS FOR LESS THAN HALF THE MANUFACTURER'S PRICE.
SURE, YOU MAY GET "STIFFED", BUT AS THE ADDAGE GOE "LET THE BUYER BEWARE" I WOULD AGREE THAT YOU SHOULD ASK QUESTIONS, CHECK THE SELLERS PROFILE FOR ANY NEGATIVE REPLIES, AND NEVER, EVER, EVER BUY THINGS AS AN INPULSE.
FOR EXAMPLE, I WAS LOOKING FOR A SURFCASTING ROD (SILSTAR) AND NARROWED MY SEARCH TO LOOK FOR ONLY THAT BRAND IN THE SPORTING GOODS, FISHING SECTION. IT BROUGHT UP QUITE A FEW ITEMS THAT I COULD CHOOSE FROM. I WAS PATIENT, AND WAS ABLE TO GET THE GEAR I WANTED WITHOUT TRYING TO OUTBID SOME SNIPE ON AN AUCTION THAT WAS ABOUT TO END. THE BEST THING IS THAT A LOT OF TACKLE SHOPS WANT TO UNLOAD THEIR SURPLUS STOCK AND WILL GENERALLY SELL SOME THINGS AT A DISCOUNT. IT MAY TAKE SOME TIME, BUT SINCE WE'VE GOT A FEW MONTHS BEFORE THE FUN BEGINS AGAIN, YOU CAN TAKE YOUR TIME LOOKING FOR THAT DEAL.

Im a sniper:D
I have 2 windows open on the item and then I pull the trigger at just the right time. its how You save doe.
do research on the seller to see whats up if there are alot of bids fast
some have a buddy bid it up and even if they loose its no worry
they get + feedback and will recoup in the next auction.

I bought a Raytheon Fishfinder thru the buy it now system. it was the machine I wanted and the price was right. was i a fool? the season was here and i needed a new machine, so rather than drop 700 - 1000 dollars on a good machine at consumers marine, i tried this....

it showed up in a few days, brand new in the wrapper and works well, i am happy with it.

what do you guys think about the buy it now method?

-Hoopah:confused:

buy it now is ok if the price is right...

like a 499.99 item with a buy it now price of $425+$12 or so shipping... thats kewl as long as it's BRAND NEW and a current model. 15% is the min i look for with a reasonably S&H

I like bid sniping too.. best way to get a deal..

I have gotten some great deals on ebay. the past few years. The biggest thing is you need to know your prices. Always look at the individuals feedback before you do business with them. Used reels are tough, I have bought a few and they were in worse shape than discribed. Of course I give negative feedback to that person. Now I just buy NIB reels and have had great success. Last month I got a NIB Shimano 6500B ($119) for $73 including shipping. A new Penn 7'slammer boat rod ($73) for $23 including shipping.
