Jimbo 12-30-2003, 10:02 AM I'm not usually much of a New Year's Resolution guy, but what the heck:
Fish more down here and up there
Catch a keeper (One every three to five years isn't too much to ask for, is it?)
Meet some of you guys, maybe at an S-B event
Become more proficient with my conventional setup
Fish new spots, not just the same old-same old
Put a smilie in a post
Finally send FishNDive that book I promised him
Do a cod trip
Finish some short stories I started writing
Perfect the Backyard Clambake in my 30 qt. steamer/fryer pot
Shake hands with a Bomba or two
Maintain eye contact with my neighbor instead of staring at her boobs
Clean the garage
Remember to check the oil in my wife's car BEFORE it's too late
And all that be a better father/husband/lover stuff

FishermanTim 12-30-2003, 11:27 AM I'LL TRY TO KEEP THIS SHORT AND SWEET.
I DON'T MAKE RESOLUTIONS, AT LEAST THE CONVENTIONAL ONES.
THINK OF IT THIS WAY...
YOU MAKE A RESOLUTION GENERALLY TO STOP DOING SOMETHING YOU DON'T LIKE. YOU START THE NEW YEAR AND MOST PEOPLE FAIL BEFORE THE END OF THE MONTH.
MY RESOLUTION IS TO TRY AND DO SOMETHING THAT I HAVEN'T DONE BEFORE. THIS GIVES ME THE WHOLE YEAR TO SUCCEED.
WHICH MAKES MORE SENSE. SPEND THE YEAR TRYING NOT TO DO SOMETHING, OR SPEND THE YEAR JUST TO DO ONE THING?
I ALWAYS SUCCEED BECAUSE WITHOUT HAVING ONE PARTICULAR TRAIT , HABIT OR FLAW TO FOCUS ON, I CAN SUCCEED BY DOING THE SIMPLEST OR THE HARDEST THING I CHOOSE.
I LOVE HEARING ALL THE RESOLUTIONS BEING MADE ON NEW YEARS EVE, ONLY TO SEE THEM BROKEN THE VERY NEXT DAY.
JUST MY $.02 WORTH.
ANYWAY, HAVE A HAPPY, SAFE AND ENJOYABLE NEW YEAR !!!
redlite 12-30-2003, 05:43 PM I WILL quit chew.:wall: :crying:

RickBomba 12-30-2003, 07:19 PM Yup, definately bring Jimbo fishing...
I got a boat just prime for cod, just get yer butt up here to Mass!
My big resolution is to get out of the restaurant biz...It killed one marriage; I'm darned if it's going to kill the relationship I'm in now.
On the positive side, now that I don't have a house anymore I plan to FISH!
OH, ps... now that I live two miles from the Watertown run, I plan to catch many, many, many herring.
Plan to take many of you monkeys out on the boat that I've been working on for the last three years.
Last, but not least, I will continue to enjoy being happy. I haven't felt this good in five years.
HOHOHO
Rick
PPS watch out for Mikey...He should be up and running on the board in the next few days!!!

how is that? Your stamina increased? Ran like a flash?
I plan on stayin off the smokes for good. Picking up my patches tommorow morning.
And I hope to fish with more of you guys :)
Jimbo 12-31-2003, 10:04 AM Notaro, I quit (we did, my wife, too) 7 weeks ago. As far as stamina you have to speak to her about that. As far as running like the flash, well only when my youngest one screams, "Daddy, the toilet's clogged and the water is running all over the floor." I can't speak for anyne else, but I used to drink a considerable amount when I smoked, too. One beer, one smoke, one beer, one smoke...you might see how that could get one in a rut. With that behind me now, I see all that I put aside to feed a nasty habit and I'm happy making up for lost time. Mostly, my kids are happy about it. This was a New Year's Resolution from many years back that finally came to be. Good luck to everyone else who is quitting or going to.
Goose 12-31-2003, 10:20 AM Fish more with wife & kids.
Work less and make more, I'll be happy with just the first one.
Scout better woods & water.
Learn how to use my GPS to the fullest.
Tie and throw jigs.
Skish.
Smell burnt drag washers :)
Raven 12-31-2003, 11:14 AM to dress as classy as fish wee wee
to buy scuba gear and stalk Notaro and pull on his line
to bust out of the beach like a nuclear clam and scare the clammer
to own as much PC stuff as John
to learn to turn out a bunch of pencil poppers
to catch a bunch more stripers than last year
not to get mad cow disease but still eat steak
to hike more often: as the answer my friend is blowing in the wind
to use my new (sled) toyota camry to find more spots and hookup with other members to fish with....
that'll about cover it...
:D
MrsSFrances 12-31-2003, 07:34 PM Same resolutions I made last year...NONE...Cause I never do what I say I am going to anyway....LOL:smash: :D
Fish_n_Dive 12-31-2003, 08:17 PM hey, raven u scuba??
resolutions:
get in better shape, and get a job!!!
GBOUTDOORS 01-01-2004, 09:58 AM Follow Goose to all those new spots he finds:happy:   and help him catch all the big fish.
Raven 01-01-2004, 10:20 AM i grew up in Newton actually... but did my SCUBA thing in La Jolla
california many years ago- and then became a mountain man.
always wanted to take up the sport again. CASH flow restrictions
have prevented that idea from materializing thus far.
Fish_n_Dive 01-01-2004, 12:22 PM cool
beachwalker 01-01-2004, 06:47 PM 18 hrs off the chokes and things are good. I am gonna have to get me some nicorette tomorrow. These first few days are gonna be tough :smash:
goosefish 01-01-2004, 07:03 PM Beachwalker: take a hot shower, or a long hot bath. Get some valerian tea, a root of some kind, that will calm the nervous system. I'm also a big believer in Epsom salt--this too will help the body relax. When I'm feeling like ass I head for the tub.
Good luck. I dropped the burners three years ago.
I am not an angel though for I still chew the SKOAL.
Not a safe alternative to butts, highly addicting and one nasty habit.
