View Full Version : Used combos
InshoreAngler 12-29-2003, 05:27 PM I'm looking to buy off someone:
2 Penn International 30T
1 5'6 Penn International 30-60# standup rod
1 5'6 Penn Slammer standup rod
For $150. EVerything is in fair condition, scratched and scuffed but works. How will this rod (the international) and the 30T combo do for partyboat tuna fishing?? Its a single speed reel.
thanks:D
Team Rock On 12-29-2003, 05:30 PM You better up your bid. You would be lucky to get a barely working 30-T for $150. A 114 would be adequate though.
InshoreAngler 12-29-2003, 05:42 PM its not ebay, its just a person selling in an email group im in....u think its possible, two 30Ts and that expensive rod, plus a slammer for $150?
If you can buy these reels for this price I would jump on it. Even if you didn't want to fish them both you could sell one in spring at a profit and have the other one for free.
InshoreAngler 12-29-2003, 06:04 PM thats wut i figured
for that price there worth it for just hanging on ur wall lol
i emailed the guy, hope it goes thru
bud8fan 12-29-2003, 07:12 PM Good Luck with it!!
At that price they wont last long!
I just hope that they dont burn you when you touch them!! :smash: :smash: :D
fishweewee 12-29-2003, 07:15 PM Vic, you going tuna fishing or something?
I don't think you'll find a Penn Int'l 30T for $150, let alone a rod/reel combo.
Anyways, you should save up for a two-speed if you can.
A 50 wide two-speed is more versatile and you'll use it a lot more often than a 30.
Now, if you're looking for a spare Accurate Platinum Twin Drag 50 Wide in fantastic condition with a G. Loomis Hybrid 80 lb. class standup outfit, and you can mortgage some body parts, send me a p.m. :hihi:

InshoreAngler 12-29-2003, 10:19 PM well thanks for the info.
yes someday I am going tuna fishing, maybe not today, maybe fall 04, i just figured if it was a great offer why not jump on it now and save hundreds?? maybe it is in bad condition....but he needs to get rid of it quick and it looks fine, he says everythings working and hes in a local club here so I can probably look @ it before i buy. i dont kno ill check it out
InshoreAngler 12-30-2003, 10:09 AM HERE IS PART OF AN EMAIL I GOT FROM HIM:
The rod is in good shape, the reel is a bit scratched up and the preset for the drag seems to be stuck. At the begining of the season I had the reel appart and I put new drag washers in it and greased it up. We have been using it for a few season know and have never had a problem with it. As for party boat tuna fishing it would be a good rod I would suggest the 50T Just so you would be able to bully the fish a bit more. If you are still intrested, you can call my father and he can set up a time for you to check it out.
fishweewee 12-30-2003, 10:22 AM Vic, go for a 50 W two speed if you can (50 SW).
InshoreAngler 12-30-2003, 04:15 PM then I should just drop this deal?
fishweewee 12-30-2003, 04:17 PM You have plenty of time to save up for next season.
Go to tackle shops, ask how many 30T's are on the shelf. Chances are you'll see a lot of them, collecting dust. Not that it's a bad reel, just the size is a bit weird.
