Skitterpop 01-05-2004, 11:39 PM Very Clever....hmmmmmmmmm
Skitterpop 01-07-2004, 06:54 PM Blitz,
What happens to this plug collection? Do you get to keep them to show year after year?
Twenty years from now they could be worth some hefty coin.
Just curious,
Mike
Skitterpop 01-07-2004, 08:41 PM Well written Bliz!
I guess what many wonder though is who owns this collection once donations are made? Its a great concept you are bringing to life but bottom line ....do you own this collection? If so do you need a partner?
No.... I am not a builder and I admire those who build and their art/handicraft very much.
Best,
Mike
Canalman 01-08-2004, 08:55 PM I'm in Don.. I think you know that but I saw pending next to my name so I thought I'd make it clear. I'd also like to extend an invitation to you to make your own plug to add to the collection. You're welcome here anytime :D
-Dave
BigFish 01-13-2004, 04:32 PM Bliz...just curious how the plug collection is growing? How many you got, from who, and how might you be displaying them when the time comes? Hope it is going well, thanks!

BigFish 01-13-2004, 04:42 PM Bliz...don't know if you were at the August MSBA meeting last year? I put together a night of entertainment for the membership called "Plug Night"! We featured Bassmaster Dave Manzi doing his fabulous plug building seminar, and we also had many of the plug builders from this site on hand displaying and selling their beautiful and fully functional fish catching creations. Long story short.....I am working on putting together "Plug Night 2" possibly this coming August. Last August was one of the most well recieved nights of entertainment we had at MSBA in quite some time, everyone had a ball. I put the night together for all of the guys on this site after being inspired by all of their great work. We will most likely be doing this again, with a slightly different angle, and I would like to know, would you be interested in bringing the display, should we have "Plug Night 2"? Just wanted to touch base with you on this...plenty of time to discuss it as August is months away. Talk to you later, Bigfish.
So, far, I'm waiting for those who are pending to send a plug in, as many are working on them now... or are doing so shortly...
For those who are interested in coming on board, you can either send a plug in to the address at the top of this thread, or give me a call on my cell phone at 401-829-0385
Please sign your plug with a sharpie and include along with your creation, a small blurb about yourself, and how long you have been building.
I would like to include a small bio about yourself to be featured next to your work.
All skill levels are welcome additions to this project!
When plugs arrive, I will be working on ways to display them.
Also, it will not be necessary to add a belly hook to your creation, but I will need you to leave the barrel swivel in for mounting purposes.
Tail hooks with or without bucktails added will be fine!
As soon as I receive enough Plugs in, I'll begin to post pic's. :)
Thanks! :btu:
I can't wait to see the responses of those who come to see this assembly of raw talent out there!
And I hope that many of you who build will come on board, as this is an awesome undertaking!
BigFish 01-15-2004, 11:10 AM Come on all you plug builders out there! This is an admirable undertaking on Bliz part and I believe he will do a great job with this project. I already am making plans for Bliz to put the collection on display at the MSBA show. You all do such great work, I would love to see a collection of it all in one place and I am sure many people would also find it fascinating! If I get the chance to produce a plug myself, I may even send one to Bliz...I am just getting started so give me a little time!:kewl:
Don, I epoxied the plug for the display today and will shp it to you next week.

RIROCKHOUND 02-13-2004, 09:51 AM On the way Bliz....
Should be there monday
Hi eelpunt,
Thanks for your entry for this project!
I received your wonderbread plug yesterday, and I have to tell you that it was well received by my 2yr old daughter...
Every time a package arrives for this project, my daughter Rachel runs up to me and says
"Daddy! ... Fish Box!... Fish Box Daddy!"... I then proceed to open the package and my little one asks to touch the plug, and then proceeds to kiss them and pet them...
it's a sight to see!
It takes all I have to keep the hooks out of the way when she does this!
I know many fishermen that will have the same response to this project once it is making it's way around! :laughs:
I just wanted you to know that your plug was voted as most kissable by my 2yr old! :laughs: It must have been the colors!
She has done this for every plug that has arrived so far, however, moreso for your entry... and it is on it's way to becoming a tradition in my home...
So those who are thinking of sending one in, take comfort that your creations are receiving TLC right out of the box!!! :)
Thanks for your entry, and thanks to all of those who have sent one of theirs in, and to those who have contacted me about doing the same! :)
I'm hoping to hear from many others who are willing to come on board! :btu:

Thanks Eben for the glass popper you donated last night!
I'm trying to find a way to attach some hardware to it for the display!
I was thinking about the needlefish you had mentioned, and I think that the one you gave to Capesams is more like the one that should go into the case!...
What do you think?...
Either way,
You do great Work!

I look forward to seeing more from you in the future!...

It was good finally speaking to you as well I enjoyed our conservation. I am going to the craft stores on monday to get some supplies when I get something worth while I will call.
I got some new colors and some improvements to old colors when I get pics I will send them to ya.
Talk to ya soon
Steve
capesams 04-18-2004, 11:26 AM hope ya not thinking of putting anything sticky on those plugs?....
No Steve,
I am looking for numbers to put next to the Plugs inside the case as an identifier that will match an entry in a book that will accompany the display...
Those plugs are too beautiful to destroy with adhesive. :)
Capesams,
That jointed plug is very interesting! Especially the way that it is jointed!
that's definitely a different way of doing that!
I have really enjoyed seeing the plugs that you have resurrected from the past!
I find them to be as fascinating as they are unique!
capesams 04-20-2004, 05:22 PM I like the old ways, there for I am. an old phart.:D
WOW!!!!!!!!!
I have to hand it to you Capesams...
You make one hell of a Plug!!!
When this jointed creation arrived yesterday, it was greeted with the usual kiss from my two year old daughter just as I got it unwrapped...
And as I held this plug up to look at it, I was absolutely blown away by the workmanship that you put into your lure creations.
This plug has really given me a sense of respect for the time and effort, as well as the craftsmanship that goes into putting these Plugs together.
Magnificent work Capesams!...
And rest assured, this beauty will hold a prominent place in the Plug Project display case...
Unbelievable!...
I really admire your work Steve.
Thanks for offering one of these so that everyone will be able to enjoy seeing it first hand.
The pic's you posted don't even come close to showing how awesome your work is.

Hi Karl,
I'm so glad to see you had decided to be part of the Plug Project!
I appreciate your contributing toward this collaborative collection.
Please feel free to take whatever time you need, as I appreciate those like yourself, who have decided to contribute to a growing legacy of plug builders everywhere.
By the looks of your first batch of plugs, I'd say you are going to catch many fishermen as well as bass on your lure creations.
I hope to see you in August at the Plug event being hosted by BIGFISH
Thanks so much for your PM :)
Don
(I wasn't sure this PM got through to you...)
Thanks for your contribution coming toward the August event Jigman!
I look forward to seeing it in the display!
Bliz :btu:
Anyone else out there building their own lately?...
You can come on board for the August event & have your work featured in this amazing collection!
Let me know!...
BigFish 07-14-2004, 02:04 PM I will have one for you at Plug Night II Bliz!:D
BigFish 07-14-2004, 02:18 PM I will be posting a new/updated sticky shortly about "Plug Night II"!
I would like to thank everyone who has contributed something to add to the project for the event last night.
There will be another case at our next event featuring more incredible hand made creations made by others like those of you who have generously built & sent in one or more of their own.
Last evening was an amazing event, and the response to this project has been overwhelming to say the least...
For those who have considered coming on board, please contact me, and I'll be happy to arrange to meet with you, or you can simply send one of your creations to me via mail.
I met an interesting artisan last night who is a contemporary of Eben's & the blown glass lure creations he showed me were absolutely amazing!...
I look forward to displaying one of his creations in the near future as part of the display as it continues to grow & evolve.
Thanks again to everyone out there who has become part of this growing legacy!...
You guys have been great!
I look forward to all that's ahead! :)
PLUG PROJECT UPDATE:
For the future Plug Project Showings, I will be including a register that people who see the display can write their comments in...
Each plug will have an identifier that will correspond to a space in the register, and written comments will be sent to each contributor as the project maks it's way around the various fishing shows throughout New England.
The Plug Project will accompany Gags International Tackle Co. wherever I may be...
I will need to obtain some chrome plated plastic (preferably adhesive) numbers like those used for clocks...
Does anyone know where I can find them?...
Again, I would like to thank those who have stepped forward to play a part in history for this project.
For those who have generously contributed already, you can look forward to hearing the comments of others about your work as well as seeing the register as well at future events...
Bliz
For those who have contributed plugs, please PM your contact information so that I may be able to contact you with comments after the shows.
All I will need is an e-mail address and phone number...
I look forward to seeing one of yours Larry!
BigFish 08-30-2004, 07:04 PM Its coming Don....:tm:...it has to be truely worthy!:D
BEETLE 08-31-2004, 08:43 PM You've already made some tough acts to follow Larry.

BigFish 09-23-2004, 09:54 AM Still fishin' em!:D
Any updated pics yet? Or has this gone by the wayside?
Things have been pretty quiet MAC...
I am still looking for others to toss one toward the project, and will consider getting pics of the plugs that have been donated so far...
This has not fallen by the wayside...
I'm hoping that others will sign on over the winter months as a way to escape cabin fever...
Great, thanks for the update:D

Hi Bruce!
Yes, I was planning on it.
I do need however, to have another case built to house the additions that have come in...
Working toward the stocking orders and shows that are coming with Gags...
I'm not sure that I'll have enough time to have it ready...
Don
So, How have things been going?
I am sorry to have missed your open house for plug building!
I totally lost track of the date!
