I was looking for a good reel and rod for live lining, ch#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&g eels, and tossing 2-3+ oz plugs. Right now i have a 7ft medium action ugly stik with a 5500ss penn. I just started this year so im not too knowledgable. I was wondering if i could use my current reel with a larger heavier action pole and then get a smaller reel for my current rod? I found some 3+ oz plugs that i couldnt cast with my cuurent rod. Also because i dont make a fortune being a sous-chef i cant spend too much, under $200, but would like to spend less if i could find something for less that is also of quality.

Thanks

Get a Tsunami 10' 2piece mh spinning rod... :) and you'll still have over $100 left over to spend on plugs and line....

the 5500 is a little lite on that rod the 6500ss fits it almost perfectly... I wouldn't spend the extra cash on new reel i would buy an extra spool though...

Keep an eye open on the new okuma's.... I should have one tomorrow the inspira is-50... under $100.00 and it's got great features...

I dont think you would really want to go smaller than the 5500ss. Maybe you could go with a slightly larger or equal sized reel on a larger rod for those 3's. For under 200 you could go with a 9' spinfisher Big game surf (1-5) i have one and have casted lures from 1-3 oz as well as wieghtless eels. for a reel- 5500 ss 6500ss
other reels Daiwa has a couple under 100- laguna
other rods tica-tsunami-daiwa sealine
balance is key
