View Full Version : Bush's Space plan
Swede 01-09-2004, 08:05 PM Bush wants a manned Moon Station and more Mars exploration. The price is in the 10's of Billions of dollars  Why not spend the money to try to find a cure for Cancer? I think his priorities are screwed up..Does anyone else have a love/hate feeling for Bush?
beachwalker 01-09-2004, 08:36 PM Kennedy left a legacy, that's for sure :(
Why does the rest of the world do it ?
I don't know.... :(
:af: What a waste:smash: We got enought problems on earth... I'd love to see all that money go into something we can all benifit from like helath coverage for everyone or improving our schools....

that's me, right, Eben?
Notaro that was for all the superchunkers out there who have danced with the skunk.
Notaro 01-10-2004, 12:52 AM OIC. It was interesting when my friend, James considered that fishermen who use plugs are cheating.
I like to chunks sometimes, but it gets boring sometiems.
beachwalker 01-10-2004, 08:00 AM uhhhhhh
Clammer 01-10-2004, 09:34 AM DUde you stay up too late ??????????????????//:rolleyes:
Raven 01-10-2004, 09:40 AM one of the reasons for putting a manned space station on the moons surface is to study the earth. This study will go on for many years and then just maybe we'll decide to do something with that knowledge. The ocean makes up 3/4's of the earths surface. Surprisingly ! we have not established an undersea manned station to study the ocean, after all it is allot closer.:af:
beachwalker 01-10-2004, 03:08 PM 7 am ?
CustomMarineProducts 01-10-2004, 03:56 PM I have mixed feelings about it. I realize we have many other problems here that need to be dealt with, but the knoledge that can be attained, and medicines and crystals that can be made only in space, technical advances that will be used back here on earth, research that can only be done "out there". It is really a tough call.
There are a few facts that need to be looked at. I remember when we were racing to go to the moon. Everyone had the same complaints as now. The fact is during the 60's and early 70's while our goverment was spending mad cash on the space program, the woman of the United States actually spent MORE money on make-up!!! Try to keep thing in prospective.
Though I am not crazy about this either. I do like my computor, microwave oven, freeze dried coffee, countless epoxies and adhesives, polymeres, paints, some ceramics, special insulation, and countless more products developed by or for the space program that gave hundreds of thousands of people jobs, manufacturing, delivering and not to mention just plain increased our standard of living.
Pete
beachwalker 01-10-2004, 09:44 PM Well said Pete :claps:
can we talk about something that matters ?
like why people actually DIE everyday ? We have to stop this. Strive for a utopia.
I mean, if we really work hard enough and become full on communists we might be able to shed habits such as extravagance on our wardrobes, toys, tools and even the food we eat. We could dress like Maoists and fish with government issued fishing poles with a strict 1 fish (bass) per day (you see you can only have 2.3 children. If you are gay you are only allowed 3 fish a week (that's plenty of food for two efficient individuals). Don't bore me with abopted children details, etc.
Get over it already. It's humor. Laughing is healthy. Even starving people do it :laughs:
How about the government issue plugs ? Do we have to build them ourselves ?
That means a whole bunch of you have a major head start on the rest of us
hehe
