So I'm sitting here watching espn 2 and guess who i see. The mad fisherman charlie moore. Somebody decided to give this yahoo his own show. :hs: It's called beat charlie moore, and people call him out and they spend the rest of the show seeing who catches more fish. I can't wait to see how many people can put this guy to shame. He caught a sea robin and a sea bass and didn't even know what they were. :smash:

Enough is enough...now they got some other guy on NESN, Dave Sloan??? Obnoxious and loud like Charlie Moore! I guess it is a new trend!:smash: Can't imagine the new show is too much different than the other one? What time was it on?

Young Salt

You just missed it, it was on 10:00 - 10:30 this morning. He got beat by his sister. And yes, same old 'gimme the net, gimmie the net, gimmie the net' and 'big fish, big fish, BIG FISH' loud enough to hear him from shore. :jester:

Well maybe,

I believe it's more of the sensationalist ignorance of TV. Most people are useless and they need useless, ignorant idiots to guide them or they feel too much pressure. People want immediate gratification and a more intense in depth effort is over the top for them. They can't relate....

The guy is a wanker :smash: :smash: :smash:

I am prejudice against that kind of Southie, I'm so friggin funny attitude.

He's a freshie guy. If he gets stripers he's bound to be really excited. Then again he's always excited.

Am I the only one who likes the guy? All the other freshie bass shows are the same. Same old boring guy saying the same things that everyone else says and that I've read in books a million times. Charlie is exciting and entertaining.

Crafty Angler
01-11-2004, 10:36 PM
Yeah, Charlie Moore, right - I'd only watch that show again if someone was gonna put him in a bag with a brick and drop him overboard.

I dunno, Scoobe, you just might be the only one who likes the guy - not that there's anything wrong with that.

BigFish
01-11-2004, 10:56 PM
Yeah...Charlie Moore never, ever repeats anything he says??? Scoobe, please refer to the two posts previous to your last one! If you have never seen Charlie Moore use these terms over, and over, and over, and over, and over......then you probably have not been watching Charlie Moore! The guy and his show are tired!

The Dad Fisherman
01-11-2004, 11:30 PM
I think the guy is a pinhead, myself, but there are two good things about his show

1. He's local - At least you can get to the spots that he's fishing

2. The kids love him (for some reason ) - So at least he's getting kids interested in fishing.

Bigfish,

Haha. No I mean repeating the same conventional fishing wisdom: how bass hold to the weeds, how to reel in a spinnerbait, how to set the hook... stuff we all already know. I don't mean the crazy jibberish he says. That stuff makes me laugh! :D

I got excited when I heard the name of the show.

I thought the first episode was going to feature Charlie showing up on a crowded breachway at night (with a lantern) and casting over a dozen lines with a spinnerbait, immediately followed by an a$$ kicking.

Beat Charlie Moore...

I watched that guy...too much of an in-your face kind of fellow for me to watch...bring back FISH ON!

My wife walked in, looked at the screen, saw him hook and reel in and lift up a bass so fast that it was waterskiing on the water. The fish never had a chance to even swim. Her comment was...Look at that tiny fish, he just yanks it out of the water...what a joke! I would like to see him reel in an albie like that.

Someone challange that guy to some real sw speedsters...ones that will rip that rod from his hands.:D

I was watching ESPN2 and saw he had a new show coming on next. I quickly turned the channel. I can't stand that idiot! All I can say is his family must have alot of money and they have high connections with TV networks.

FishermanTim
01-12-2004, 02:25 PM
I agree with MR. SANDMAN. Get him on some REALLY BIG Fightin' Fish, and let them take him for a ride.
Can I beat him next time, say at the Quincy quarry, trolling for granite?
Here's an interesting concept, although it isn't new:
They had a tourny a while back on ESPN2 that covered fly fishing for trout. The idea was that fisherman had 3 heats per day, and the one with the smallest at the end of each heat was eliminated.
It was interesting to see these guys try to decide if they wanted to try for a larger fish, or keep the one they were measuring.
I suppose that you could try that concept with the stripers crowd, and really have a winner (at least locally).

I'd like to see the first time he goes to grab a bluefish by the lip :smash:

beachwalker
01-12-2004, 08:53 PM
Imagine the stupid shiite that he has done and we never get to see.

He probably has bluefish scars all over. I caught an episode where he heads out Bass jigging off Rhody with a captain (can't remember who but he was excellent), etc. He sets him up, hands him the rod, SHOWS HIM HOW TO FRIGGIN JIG (this guy is SO useless) and hooks him up a few times. He was pretending to be such the expert and such the novice ALL AT ONCE.

Classic Southie Bullshiiter. We have a bunch of the types out here and they are COMPLETE idiots. They NEVER, EVER shut-up :af:

And it isn't worth bashing their heads in to quiet them.

Here, they eventually go away because NO ONE wants to hire them. I guess they head back North to bother others.

I wish the wanker Moore would do the same.

Yes, kids love the show, but they would still love it no matter who the host was.

Let's get Paris Hilton to do it :)

Well, I'm in the minority again. Wow, I feel like Ted Kennedy in Washington :laughs: If I thought I was gonna learn anything from him I should be shot. but I think he's funny sometimes. You know he does somthings that are so stupid you have to laugh:laughs: :laughs: If I had the choice of watching Larry Zonka reel in Halibut off Alaska or Charlie, Well it's the big fish for sure, but hey he's a local guy and he's kinda funny so I watch.

I don't mean to blame you Popper.

He is just such a dipshiite that it pains me to listen to him.

Czonka and Halibut ? whatever.........

You're being honest and so am I and thats good enough.

I would tell the wanker that he was useless to his face if he tried to engage me.

I don't have enough time in my life to waste it on idoit TV. Others do (more like millions) and there is an entire industry devoted to creating mindless junk that sells ads.

Oh yea, the ads. You guys forget that they were present ?

I hope giving that IDIOD a show on espn isn't going to cut down on the # of episodes of Totally Hooked, Great show!!! a bunch of hot chicks fishing in skimpy bikinis!!!
I'd also rather watch Melissa Fischer of Offshore Adventures!!!

Ok, so my least favorite fishing personality is on this morning and I decided it would be good to watch the entire thing so I can be more accurate in my hatred of him.

He is still and idiot. He was fishing for summer flounder and managed to ruin a good afternoon for most. The guy is a punk.

I am prejudice and I won't hide from it. The guy is so sad.

Jimmy Houston is far more entertaining, modest and skilled.

Moore is useless, loud and a punk. Lately the network has a "Beat Charlie Moore" program. So the idiot is using peoples dislike of him to market more shows. Today he is against his sister. I am sure she is a real bright mind.

Popper. Ads = advertisements.

Junk TV. Same as a soap opera.

Film and TV is an illusion. People don't want reality, they want entertainment.

Thats why it makes a good kids show. Not a shred of skill involved

RIROCKHOUND
01-13-2004, 09:12 AM
Someone should challange him to a contest.. one night... 5 baits, needlefish, swimmer, bucktail, plastic and live eel; first to catch a bass on each lure wins.... What a sack o sheeite.... If he was on my boat, or fishing with me, he'd be treading water with a danforth around his waist :smash: now that would be entertaining!!!

RI Popper
01-13-2004, 11:50 AM
Well I don't want to alienate my self and appear as this guy's PR man. Yeah his talent is limited and skills as well but If I had the choice of letting my kids watch him or other "Reality" TV like the queer from Portsmouth on an island getting vulgar. They'd watch Moore. all that said. I rather watch Belushi pulling line siders at Nantucket or James Taylor pulling stripers even if he don't know what he's doing because I love stripers :)

p.s. I say Larry Tzonka on a fishing show once pulling 100 pound halibut off alaska. Those are some awsome flatties.

The Dad Fisherman
01-13-2004, 12:35 PM
That one with Larry Csonka fishing for halibut was on this past weekend...I remember the weight on his line was the size of a baseball...Good Show...Alaska is one of my Dream places to fish.

I saw Roland Martin's Group pull in a 200+ pounder this past weekend as well.....

Would you want your kid to develop THAT kind of sense of humor ?

I am really not a grump, I promise. I just am a little to straight up sometimes. Work in the trades on a transient island and we have to constantly weed through the wankers.

Guys like Moore aren't welcome anywhere out here. They convince you that they have some sort of ability when they actually have none. A big waste of money on a crew.

Once a tosser, always a tosser.......... :smash:

BTW, did you see the thing this weekend where they were tuna fishing and let a 5 gallon buckt out, handed it to jimmy houston and told him it was a fish... he fought it nthe whole time till it came to the boat, talking abouit how big it was... :smash:

You see I normally go right past him but I thought I wold make the effort and see if he had progressed beyond punk a$$ raving.

IMO the biggest problem with almost every fishing show out there is that they don't focus on fishing!
What's wrong with the NESN charlie moore show is charlie moore, the rest of it is pretty good, the gear (boat & rods) the camera & sound crew, the locations i like. charlie i dont.
What bothers me most is that theres a tons of guys out there who are so much better than him and will never get the chance to share what they've learned. Meanwhile the nitwit is probably dumbing down the people watching it. I want a host that is an experinced, well rounded fisherman. Just as important is that he knows how to explain the in's and out's of what he's doing...hard to do while you're hooting and hollering.
I Don't know about you guys, but when I turn on a fishing show i dont want to see the fancy lodge, don't care for 'celebrity guests' that have never been fishing, and i don't want to see some yokel go from one fishing paradise to another, putting no effort into what they're doing.

Some people will do anything to make a name for themselves.
ok, rant over. ;)

Nothing dark about it SQD.

It's an opinion and some of us can have.

Didn't mean to hijack the thread for something as such.

For those of us that put a lot of time into fishing it hurts to see someone treat it so nonchalantly.

BigBo
01-14-2004, 10:30 AM
The biggest thing that irritates me about almost all fishing shows is that they don't focus on the fundementals of the fish they are targeting. They don't get into baits, lures, tackle, methods of fishing the tackle such as fast, slow, etc. So, what happens is you end up sitting there all glassy eyed, watching what was probably many hours if not days, of tape pieced together of the host catching fish after fish and at the end of it, you really didn't get anything of substance out of the show.
They need someone that can dedicate each show to something of value like maybe reading the water, or working plugs, surf casting. The list could go on and on and for many species as well.
If they did something like that, I wouldn't miss an episode.
Well that's my .02 worth.

fishing shows for the most part are a waste of time . most dont give good info for beginners , they travel to places most anglers cant afford too . and for the most part the host is a ........ . but sometimes you get some good video . I watched that turd Charlie for the first time last night what an idiot !
