Nice sturdy lathe, cast iron base, will last a lifetime. Only thing that could possibly wear out is the motor and the belt. Those gouges look nice too. Now all you need is a duplicator and you will be completely addicted. Best of luck with your new toys. Karl F 01-19-2004, 04:46 PM Thanks everybody.. Spent the day cleaning and oiling, got everything working smooooth, and all the rust off of the machined surfaces. Lathe motor is an old Craftsman, brushes look like brand new! Runs like a top. Found a plate, says J-Line, then shows 4 options for the belt. 635 RPM (Where it was set) 1230 RPM 2430 RPM 4650RPM Easy to change it around... Where should I set it??? I would imagine higher that where it was (635).. Motor on saw might have to go back to dump... oh well Salty, think Sears still has wings for that model saw? Plate on saw said to order parts thru Sears Roebuck and Co. :laughs: Wonder if Igave them the model #..... ;) I asked the guy dumping it if he had wings for it... I got the feeling he couldn't buy a clue what I was talking about.... UserRemoved1 01-19-2004, 04:51 PM BETCHA A BUCK go on the parts website and see if they gots stuff on there...... Nebe 01-19-2004, 05:31 PM karl.. I'm no expert but I think you wanna spin plugs as fast as possible because they are so small... If you were spinning something wide, you'd want to slow down... Since you have to move belts around, turn all your blanks and once your done, back the belt down to make it turn slower and sand them all... Again.. I'm new to this, but I know you want to go FAST Karl F 01-19-2004, 05:42 PM Thanks Eben.. I remember know that fast was what the guys said at the plug thing. Takes less than a minute to change belt around, so no problem Thanks Salty. Pretty cool, can get all parts for saw, but I can't find extensions.. I'll keep looking... you put a 2 horse motor on yours! 3/4horse is stock. more power grunt grunt grunt Tagger 01-19-2004, 05:53 PM Nice lathe Karl...looks like your all set ..almost ..:D BigFish 01-19-2004, 06:20 PM Time to stock up on AYC Karl F!:kewl: vineyardblues 01-19-2004, 07:33 PM u r in a ton of chit :) VB BigFish 01-19-2004, 07:48 PM Actually, isn't he in for a ton of chips!:smash: missing link 01-19-2004, 07:49 PM Originally posted by BigFish Actually, isn't he in for a ton of chips!:smash: :laughs: :laughs: vBulletin® v3.8.7, Copyright ©2000-2025, vBulletin Solutions, Inc.
