Does any one that has radar equipped boat experiance a problem when going thru the canal at MMA.My Furuno 1732CNT goes into a big white blank blob in this location and I do not know if its interference from the Canal radar station or what. This has been a giant pain when in heavy fog or real dark nights and have had to switch to plotter( the 1732 is a nav-net combo radar/plotter) to find the channel into Bourne Marina because I couldnt find the bouys on radar

When I ran comercial boats I would sometimes get the same thing when near to a big tug or tanker with radar on.

Coming from the wrong direction but the Phased Array Radar on the Cape side of the canal probably puts out enough juice to neuter birds in flight...

I knew we shouldn't mess with Mars. They've figured out how to jam our radar!!:laughs: :laughs: :laughs:

coming west bound from Sanwich end to Bourne.Seems to happen right after RR bridge but more towards MMA where it opens up after the Corp of Engineer station.Thought I might be picking up signals from the the unit on there building.Doesn*t happen all the way up and they have more units. Its the only place it happens. It wouldnt be as big a problem if the 25 bouy had a lite on it like the 27 and 23.Its just that the right side of that channel drops off to like 1--2 feet on the flats there.Havent had it happen from ship but will have to check this out.Wondering if its just my unit or others run into it also.My brother-in law has multiple mono chrome units on a 58 hatteras and another on a smaller 27 WA and he had never seen problem before.Picked up everything coming up canal when we could hardly see the bow and as soon as we got there it went white as usual. The whole screen just turns into big white circle. He had not seen it even when he had the old Decca radar on the hatteras.I dont know if it might also have something to do with this being color radar also. Its kinda unnerving when it happens

Nope it's in your unit, I run that area ALOT in the summer, only place you have a problem is around the bridges which is to be expected. Sucks when it's pea soup though, there's 2 places in the canal where you blind....
