Bruce---Alumni Hall, Providence College, spring of 1977. There were about 700 people in a 3,000 seat college gym, we sat about 50' from the stage and he played for about 3-1/2 hours.

Fleetwood Mac, Van Halen w/Dave & Sammy, AC/DC, Pink Floyd, ZZ Top w/Black Crowes, Clapton w/Mark Knopfler (seen Clapton about 6 times) BB King, Robert Cray, Robert Plant w/Stevie Ray Vaughn (Seen Stevie Ray Vaughn about 7 times.........alright.....after much thought......all seven times I saw Stevie Ray Vaughn were the best concerts I have ever been to....however.....THE BEST SHOW....that I have ever been to without a doubt was seeing Jeff Beck & Stevie Ray Vaughn together at the Wooster (Worcester) Centrum. Being a huge fan of guitar and blues, this was the most incendiary show that I have ever seen. These two guys in their individual sets were ablaze but when they got together for the oncore.....man the place was an inferno, especially when they did the song "Goin' Down" it was the absolute best guitar work I have ever heard. Anyone here ever hear the version of Goin' Down with Beck/Vaughn on the SRV boxed set????? WOW....nuff said.:claps: :bounce: :kewl:

Pink Floyd..... Pulse! I think they spent a gazillion dollars to make it happen.....one word *awsome*

As they played the solo at the end of 'comfortably numb', this gigantic disco ball comes up from the middle of the stadium and lites the place up with lights. One of their best lazer light shows ever. I hope they have it in them to do jsut one more, it'll be hard to beat the last one.

My Favorite was probably The Kinks at the Gahden '81

After that was probably the Black Sabbath/ Blue Oyster Cult tour in '80

Then Ozzy at the Orpheum for the release of Blizzard of Oz w/ Rhandy Rhodes...That was a great show

Slingah...Our paths had to have crossed sometime. I've seen dozens of concerts and a lot of the bands on your list. both the Devo and U2 concerts at the Orpheum I could have had free tix to but was wearing my Heavy Metal hat and copped an attitude about Punk Rock. Still kicking myself about those

I've seen
Van Halen @ the Gahden
Aerosmith new year's eve at the Orpheum.
the Ramones at the Metro in boston.
Alice Cooper w Joan Jett and the Blackhearts @ the CCC
David Bowie w/ the Tubes @ the Oakland Coliseum (Same Week)
The Police w/ the Fixx,Oingo Boingo, Madness and the Thompson Twins @ the Oakland Coliseum ( Same Week)
Def Leppard w/ Uriah Heep @ the Oakland Coliseum ( Same Week, and What a week)
The Scorpions w/ Iron Maiden @ the Oakland Coliseum ( NOT the same week)
Rainbow w/ Pat Traverse at the Orpheum
Nazareth @ the Orpheum
Joe Jackson @ the Orpheum
Ted Nugent w/ Blackfoot '80 @ the Gahden
Pink Floyd '87 at the Providence Civic Center
The Kinks at the Wang Center

And the List just goes on.
Got to agree I hate Crowds too but love Live Music

I'm not much of a concert guru. Saw Kansas, Chuck Mangione, Meat Loaf, and the Outlaws in college, they were ok. What ranks up there was when I was a senior in Northport High School, middle of the winter, school should have been cancelled it was snowing so bad, and Harry Chapin shows up with his guitar, but his backup guys never made it. So classes were cancelled and we sat in the auditorium and listened to what was essentially, Harry Chapin Raw. It was awesome. He ended it asking us to crituque a new song he was working on and proceded to sing "Cat's In The Cradle".

Nice to see some other people on the board with some hippie music tastes.

Now, my favorites:

Grateful Dead - 9/10/91 - Madison Square Garden - Branford Marsalis joined for the whole show, and the show contained the best Franklin's Tower ever in my opinion.

Rage Against the Machine - Fall '93 - Saw them in a tiny club in Atlanta just before they hit big time. Maybe like 200 people there, and the show was just intense. Walked out of there blown away.

Phish - Seen too many shows to count, but 12/31/95, 10/31/96, and 12/30/93 stick out as my favorites. However, I've got quite an impressive Phish resume, and have seen many many great shows from them and their side projects.

The Black Crowes - Orpheum Theater sometime around their first album. They blew the roof off the place, and were really on their game at the time.

I also saw a ton of other shows (Nirvana, Dave Matthews in a bar with 100 people in it), but these were the best I saw.

Best concert I have ever seen was Eagles, last year as a birthday present from my wife. Close your eyes and you would have sworn it was the cd, they sounded so good.
We also saw BonJovi/ Goo Goo Dolls tice. Second time was at the Razor, and Sheryl Crow was opening, can you say hottie.

The Specialist,
I saw the Eagles last year also (fleet Center)
I was pretty dissapionted in that show!
I've seen the eagles 3 different times
1978, Great show but, that was in their partying days
1994, Hell freezes over tour, by far the best show!!!
Last year, Fleet center, No Don Felder on lead guitar:(
While Goe Walsh is a great guitarist and the life of the show, his playing dosn't compare to Don felder!!! and the sound of the band was nothing like their albums! Ron

They also looked pretty old (accept Glenn Frey) and tired half way through the show!

Okay, I've said it before, but:

1. Jimi Hendrix and the Experience, Rhode Island Auditorium, 1968.

2. Eric Clapton and Cream, ditto.

3. Carlos Santana, Woodstock.

4. Janis Joplin with Big Brother and the Holding Company and yes, she really did keep a fifth of Southern Comfort behind the Marshalls. Newport Folk Festival, 1968....ummmm, maybe '69...I dunno, I've heard it said that if you remember the 60's you weren't really there.

5. Led Zeppelin, same year, same place.

6. Sly and the Family Stone, ditto.

7. The Great One I Missed: Third Row Box Seats (Seats 48, 49, 50 outta 100) for The Allman Brothers at the Newport Festival. The show was cancelled due to the riot.

Well, Sherman, how's that for a trip in the Wayback Machine?

The Tower Of Power
Not one of the most popular bands as far as songs in the charts,
But one of the most talented group of musicians ever!!!
Saw them about 10 times from the late 70s- 1990
One show they had Chester Thompson with them, he played most every instrument!

Oops, just remembered two more:

Saw some guy sing outdoors on the quad at Wheaton College on a sunny afternoon in 1968, had no idea who the hell he was  - there were like 300 coeds and me and one other guy there in the audience sitting on the grass. He just played by himself on a small platform with an accoustic guitar and only had one small Fender amp. Found out he had just released his first album on Apple Records titled "Sweet Baby James."

Needless to say, me and the other guy pretty much went largely unnoticed by the 300 panting coeds.

Saw all the Taylors, Kate, Livingston, Alex et al. minus James at a wedding my wife and I went to on the Vineyard in the mid-Eighties - they sang backup to Carly Simon, who sang the Everly Brothers' "Devoted to You" to the newlyweds at their reception. That really was pretty special - Carly even brushed right against me as she departed the stage and I smiled at her - and again, I went largely unnoticed.

Hey, wait a minute - what the hell, what am I, Claude Raines?

Awww, it's probably just as well - Mrs. Crafty woulda been pissed if Carly started hittin' on me. :laughs:

VB,

I used to catch the Fools at the cove quite a bit out in Worcester years ago...

My favorite concert was J.Geils at the Boston Garden during the Love Stinks Tour...

The energy was unbelievable for a Boston Garden concert event, and Peter Wolf went long into the night as the band stayed for hours...

Best show I have ever seen for the money, and the band was pumped up through the entire event...

It's always a blast catching local bands at concert events!

I saw Boston during a long run they were doing at the Centrum, (13 concerts there or something like that?...)and it was similar to seeing J.Geils at the garden...

for Boston to do so many nights and carry the intensity as they did was well worth the cost of the tickets...
