This is a cool sight! Clammer 02-19-2004, 03:50 PM #$%^%&&*javlin:( Nebe 02-19-2004, 04:15 PM I pulled tubes in college:rolleyes: Flaptail 02-19-2004, 07:39 PM I am interested. Last year on Billingsgate they slaughtered the bass on them and a coupke of my best friends troll them out at Scorton ledge. What do you use and what length, color and weighting do you suggest? patr 02-19-2004, 08:53 PM Flaptial, It all depends on the depth you are fishing. A lot of the tubing I do is in very shallow waters of 12 ft or less. In those situations I use an un-weighted tube around 15" in length and about 3/8 to 1/2" outside diameter. The key is trolling very slowley around rocky structure and shoreline at 2MPH or less. This method is so effective you won't believe it. Even though you will catch your share of smaller fish you will also score many keeper size fish. Waht I like best is it is very effective in the middle of the day even with a high sky and gin clear water!! Nebe 02-19-2004, 09:25 PM hmmmm got kayak? what colors are you using? Red?? patr 02-20-2004, 09:01 AM Scarlet is my favorite... pink next.... followed by black & purple. Flaptail 02-20-2004, 09:23 AM Thanks, sounds like the method to use along the Elizabeth Islands if I can ever break myself away from throwing Dannys into the rocks! tlapinski 02-20-2004, 09:39 AM Originally posted by Flaptail Thanks, sounds like the method to use along the Elizabeth Islands if I can ever break myself away from throwing Dannys into the rocks! yeah, send your dannys to me and start trolling tubes! RIROCKHOUND 02-20-2004, 09:43 AM Big tubes on wire in deep water takes big fish... but isnt much fun to me... Now mid morning trolling smaller tubes on mono in shallow water:humpty: patr 02-20-2004, 09:51 AM RIROCKHOUND, Ahhhhh.... you get the picture. I use fairly light action rods with abu 6500c3 reels loaded with 30lb Powerpro. The braid is much better for trolling. Let that tube out about 100ft troll slowly around the rocky shoreline or isolated rockpiles and you would be very suprised at the many 35-40" stripers that you can yank our of 3-10ft of water. Nice way to kill some time between tides and also a great way to put inexperienced or younger anglers on some decent fish with LOTS of action.;) tackle trap 02-20-2004, 11:01 PM AHHHHHHH! Eliz Islands and Squiby +Danny's = Bass Thumb Is it late spring yet?:smash: Tagger 02-21-2004, 07:33 AM do you put a worm or a piece of eel on the end of that tube ?? patr 02-21-2004, 10:21 AM In my opinion the best bait to tip this tube with is a sandworm. Nightcrawlers and thinly sliced squid strips work well also. Tagger 02-21-2004, 12:40 PM try an eel sometime,,last a lot longer Tagger 02-21-2004, 12:41 PM try a piece of eel sometime,,last a lot longer,,cheaper vBulletin® v3.8.7, Copyright ©2000-2025, vBulletin Solutions, Inc.
