View Full Version : June's new moon, and the back beaches of CC
Mike Lang 02-27-2004, 11:59 AM I am planning a week in N. Truro this June. I have been there before and know where I want to go, BUT in your opinion and I know its a pretty vague question, would you rather the upside of downside of the new moon?
Thanks in advance.
Mike Lang
I don't fish the Cape but for Rhody, I prefer the downside....the later in June the better.
i planned my vacation around the new moon this year in chatham, ill be there the 3rd week in june. im hoping that will be the week!!
RickBomba 02-27-2004, 02:46 PM You should talk to Dave "the pants man" Manzi; he's the best authority I've ever met on how moon phases effect outer beaches during specific months.
Later,
Rick
PS Look out, he's mental!!!

redlite 02-27-2004, 04:38 PM Many times been out there poundin fish, then as soon as that moon comes up, the fish shut off like a switch. A couple years ago was fishin with a couple of the sharpies on a bright, clear, moonlit night. Every time a single little cloud would pass the moon, we'd all hook up, then nothin till the next little cloud came by.
Make an effort to fish before the moon comes out or after it sinks down behind the dunes. Small window of opportunity given sometimes the moon never sets before the sun is up.
Krispy 02-27-2004, 05:14 PM he said new moon Redlite :p
redlite 02-27-2004, 05:16 PM Uh.........Never mind..........In that case, fish from sun down to sun up.......:smash: :smash: :smash: :smash: :smash: :smash: :fishslap:

Maybe, not sure? i got into some nice fish last year during the 2nd and 3rd week of june in chatham, biggest at 41". nice fish on light tackle, but this was caught in pleasant bay. i know what youre saying, there weren't many fish on the outer beach during that time. at least i didn't see many. i hope the water warms a little faster this year, would like to take a biggun off the beach during my vacation.
