Go earlier RIJIMMY 03-01-2004, 01:26 PM Don't know if this qualifies as a movie, but Band Of Brothers is by far the best I've seen. Second is Saving Private Ryan. The first 15 minutes alone of the D-Day landing are more realistic than any war movie before. DelSamAdams327 03-01-2004, 06:17 PM George C Scott? if thats not it I haven't a clue BigFish 03-01-2004, 06:24 PM Gary Cooper TDF! redlite 03-01-2004, 06:45 PM Braveheart Platoon Full Metal Jacket (first half) Siege of Firebase Gloria Hamburger Hill Apocolypse Now Black Hawk Down Saving Private Ryan We were Soldiers Navy Seals Platoon Leader Casulties of War Sniper The Green Berets Nebe 03-01-2004, 07:27 PM "Enemy at the Gates" was pretty good too :rocketem: KLMulder 03-01-2004, 08:11 PM The mupets take manhatten. KLMulder 03-01-2004, 08:27 PM Don't forget he got shot in the buutTocks:D rexhamer 03-01-2004, 10:52 PM All my favorites have already been mentioned (Saving Private Ryan, Apocalypse Now, Platoon) so I will add a few more: The Enemy Below (Robert Mitchum) Dr. Strangelove (George C. Scott, Peter Sellers, etc.) Sahara (with Bogart, although the remake with Jim Belushi was OK) Caine Mutiny (Bogart again - "it was the strawberries") Hell is for Heroes (McQueen) In Harm's Way (John Wayne, Kirk Douglas) Schindler's List (Liam Neeson) Von Ryan's Express (Sinatra) Go Tell the Spartans (a little known flick with Burt Lancaster that has some interesting insight into the very beginning of Vietnam, during the "advisors" phase) The Beast (No, not the one about the giant squid! This is another hard to find flick that tells the story about a Russian tank that gets lost during their occupation of Afghanistan. Will give you an idea about why it is so hard to catch Osama) Finally - Does Casablanca count? hooked 03-01-2004, 11:29 PM The War of the Roses. :hihi: Apocalypse Now Papillon Saving Private Ryan The Deer Hunter The Great Escape The Dad Fisherman 03-02-2004, 08:49 AM Originally posted by SamAdams327 George C Scott? if thats not it I haven't a clue It was the Original Phantom of the Opera...Lon Chaney Sr. He got it for so perfectly capturing the spirit of a Marine Drill Sgt. in the Movie "Go Tell It To The Marines" Recovery Room 03-02-2004, 09:32 AM The Guns Of Navarone Stalag 17 The Great Escape The Hunt for Red October Crimson Tide The Longest Day Saving Private Ryan The Bridge over River Kwai The Dirty Dozen Not my favorite, but the one I've seen the most is "John Wayne and the Fighting SeaBees".
