I have not looked at the site in some time!
I have just finished reading some posts.I was drawn to the troublesome post below!(I am always drawn to troucble!) Anyway,I had my share of fun busting beans and causing major trouble on many sites since 1996 or so.

I can say from experiance that it gets old to be the "Hated" member of any site.Suddenly it just plain ain't funny anymore.

I think more important than the info that is shared on this site and others is the "Friendships" that are made. Some of the people are downright "good-ole-boys". I think losing a potential friendship no matter how small is a bad thing. You never know just how good that friendship will be!

As for giving up spots, I aggree with saltheart,Its totally up to the individual what he or she wants to disclose. And, should take the responsibility for releasing it.

Not to long ago I posted some stuff about nappatree point, JohnR Was a little surprised I did it. I just dont care anymore about keeping all those secrets! I have had all I want striper fishing wise and, I realize now that its very fun to see someone else experiance what I have over the last 18 years. The only places I keep secret are the ones which need landowner permission to access and park.I will still take someone there as long as they are with me.

Anyway,Every fisherman has to start somewere! And I know how frustrating it is to get "Stonewalled" at everyturn. My priorities are different now and hey, its only a fish?? I killed myself to fish every waking moment and, for what? Im no richer for it! Nobody really cares how many fish I have caught! And it wont get me a free cup of coffee at dunky's!!

Moral? Lighten up and remeber fishing is supposed to be fun and relaxing! Not a job.Dont make the mistakes I did and burn yourself right out! People hate me because all I did was brag and frustrate people by showing them my fish but never taking them out even once!Worse,I would send them on a goosechase, lying at every turn! I should have just keeped my mouth shut! Thats how you become hated fast! I made those mistakes. How much further could I have gone, had I taken a few more people out? I would have made more friends, thats for sure.Fishing is more fun with a friend than alone.

The friends you make fishing, will outlast the fish you catch!! Remember that.

Now take someone to your secret spot!!!!!

WOW Bill, turning over a new tree? Just kidding...

But you're right - too much to enjoy if you play your cards right...and too much to miss if you dont.

Although its hard to do at times, I agree its better to keep your mouth shut than brag about a catch if you're not prepared to give out any information. The first question will usually be "where did you catch it?"
Another thing to consider is courtesy to the individual that turns you onto a specific hotspot. I make sure Im not standing on his rock with some third party when he comes out to fish. If I locate and learn to fish a specific place on my own, then I feel I can disclose whatever information I feel like. But if that spot was a "gift", I try to respect that and let whoever showed me determine how much info I pass out.
Finally, fishing is more enjoyable and at least for me, more productive when I stop trying to catch every striper that swims.

Well, Happy Father's day to the kinder, gentler #^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&. But, I gotta say, some of those old dust-ups were fun, both to take part in and to watch.

Everything fine with the little one?

Hey MikeP! My daughter is doing great! She is growing like a weed! She is in preschool and loves it.Im glad to have all those sleepless nights behind me along with all those diapers!

I have only fished 3 times this year and they have all been close to home.I plan on fishing the island next month.I dont know what happened but, I just suddenly lost the drive to go out 7 nights a week.Im busy juggling the family life and Im trying to build my small buisness which is doing great for a startup.I feel "normal" again and acually go to bed by 10pm at night! Im enjoying my pool and the grill and just genarally "kicking back" for a change and smelling the roses! Fishing will always be there but , my daughter will only be a toddler once! I have plenty of time and many years left to fish.

Those old days of the message boards were indeed fun but, it had its time and You really cant get that back.

Hope all is well with you and yours mike!
