Finally, I landed my first Keeper in Boston Harbor on Saturday! After catching about a dozen cod and half a dozen flounder I started trolling a tube in worm combo. It was 1:30, dead low tide, sun High in the sky and hot as heck. I was using lead core line and was trolling the tube approx 25' down in 30-35' of water.

I knew that the chances of a strike where slim but we needed a breeze in our face since it was so darn hot saturday afternoon. I thought for sure that the tube snagged bottom as Line ripped off the reel until I put it in neutral. The fish made a run straight at the boat, I couldn't reel fast enough to keep up the slack. Once the fish was about 15' from the boat she made a run in the other direction.

After a few minutes we netted the fish and measured her. Yes, it was a keeper....30" and yes we did keep 'er and had a barby on Sat. night. MMMMMM good.

The funny thing is, my wife thought we will be doing less fishing now that I finally caught a keeper.....you all know what happens now right???

Tight lines!

Hehehehehe, uncontrollable laughter...

I've noticed that the longer you go without fish/good fishing, the more of a nervous wreck and A-R one becomes. When you start to get some nice fish going, you hit it even harder until you get a good string going for at least a few weeks. Once the good string is going and yer feelin' real good, you don't relax but you ride a crest of a wave where not much (only the important things actually) can touch you. On that wave, you're content to fish optimally instead of franticaly. Smoooothe...

Congrats on the first keeper - imagine how you'll feel the first time you trade those inches for pounds ;D

Congrats on your fish. First striper, first keeper, now you'll want your first bass over 20lbs and it only goes up by ten pounds. And someday you'll hit the big 50 and who knows where it goes from there. I'm a little scared to find out. :o But really, congrats on your keeper. You will never forget that fish. It's been a few years since I got my first striper and my first keeper and I remember them both vividly.

Good job!

My better-half hates it when I go fishless for more than a week. She says I drive her nuts! :D

Jaiem - me too. Except she gets angry with me the more I go too... But in all fairness, I'm trying to be low key about because she really can't get out much due to the baby... Very soon she'll be able to rectify that...
