i am looking into take the basic firearms safety course to fulfill the new law for an FID or LTC. does anyone know how difficult it is to get an FID card or if it is difficult at all. was thinking about trying for my LTC but i heard they are very hard to get although i would like to join a gun club eventually and will need an LTC, anyone have any input on this?? any help would be great

It is all up to the issueing agent in your town. My town is pretty fair.To get any FID or LTC you must first complete a safty course. Then apply and go thru a criminal backround check which will take all of 40 days then back to the town for review.Fee are now $100. for the LTC or FID.

Contact the folks at GOAL (http://www.goal.org) and find out how tough your chief is with respect to issuance of "Class A LTC - For All Lawful Purposes". BTW, there is a four month wait minimum on just the renewals, I shudder to think how long it will take to process a new application. You need your FID first, then you can apply for your LTC.
