stripers to 30 inches taking live shiners at the charles river in cambridge behind the sonesta hotel on memorial drive 3 customers came into shop this morning and told me they caucht them on thursday. also a few bass at the amelia earhart dam in sommerville on rubber shads and jigs i will be at msba show next weekend have new secret weapon to show everyone . see you later pete

U guys catch them at the Charles & the dam just for fun, or do you eat them?

I use to see lots of herring spawning in the Charles River as a kid, but never thought of fishing for anthing, but carp for fun.

i wouldn't eat those stripers the've been in theriver all winter and taste very muddy. have fun with them. good luck pete santini

I grew up in the area of the Charles and remember it back in the 70s when you could just about light it on fire ...... LOL. :P Its a lot cleaner than it was 30 yrs ago.

How do you unhook a fish to release it near the Sonesta? You walk it to the end, or you horse it straight up that high wall/bank?

I heard of guys catching pike over there as well using big shiners.

maddog yes i am the tube guy. to land a striper at the sonesta you should have a drop net of some kind. they do catch an occasional pike there as well as some big largemouth bass using shiners. good luck santini
