Guys,

I made some large needles below out of AYC. They swim directly on top and don't go down at all in the water. I want't these to be able to sink a little and based on the retrieve swim at desired depth.

Perhaps I have them weighted wrong?

They are 8 inches long and weight 2.75 oz's. I have two weights in them. In the tail around .8 oz and a 3/8 by 1/2 slug right in front of the front hook.

Any suggestions?

Thanks
Paulbo

not sure but i would think to add another lead slug behind the hook also might do the trick

My first plugs were needles. I made them from birch and weighted the Butt .25 lead. I wanted the nose to float and the arse to sag.....sank like a stone!
Were 8" and 2oz. Cast like a missle though!

Paulbo, are those water tight? Looks like you sealed up the hook hanger and thru wire holes.

Guys,

Thanks for the help. Will add more weight to the rear of the plug.

BA, the two that are looked sealed are not wire thru. They have brass sinker eyes epoxied in. Don't remember if I set out to do them that way, or if they were wirethru mistakes that I tried to patch up.

If You cant pull the wire and do what cape sams says
add Buck shot on the belly 2 more in back and 1 mid belly.
then epoxy.
You can do what Mike Fixter does with glitter over epoxy
Those are Nice.
to be hones if they float and cast Nice.
I would Just make a few sinkers with more weight.
