Sorry about another boring question but I got so much help when I posted about looking for a rod I figured I'd try again. I tried doing a search but couldn't find what I'm looking for. Anyway, I am going to try braid for the first time this year and am just looking for some advise to save me the frustation of learning what not to do through trial and error. I'm looking to put braid on a 706Z and 560 Slammer. Both have a line roller and based on what I've heard I was thinking of using 50lb PowerPro. Does any one have experience with these combinations or any other ideas? Thanks alot - Josh

I used 50# braid on a 560 and 30# on a 460 last year and had no trouble with it. Well, except for trying to cut it. Get a good pair of snips!

Don't forget to wrap your casting finger in tape. I use electrical.

I used 30 lb power pro on a 560 last season with no problems. Don't know if 50 is really necessary...

I would put fireline (20 or 30 lbs.) on the 706. In my experience, the other braids are too limp for this reeel and will either dig in or create some of the worst windknots you ever seen.

I too use 30# fireline on my 706z. I use PP on my other spinning reels but it is too limp for the 706. I hear of others using PP on the Penn z and ss but I don't.

i have used 50# and 65# whiplash on 706's without much issue. if i ever give up my VS's, that is what i will go back to.

I've treid both 30# Fireline and 50# Power Pro on my 706s. The Fireline is fantastic---no tangles, wind knots, nothing. The Power Pro? After one night, I stripped it off and spun it onto a Nautil :af:
