Did any of you see that two part series on espn about fishing for really big FW bass using giant swim baits?

I am not a FW fisherman but those lures sure looked good to me! That one that looks like an 11" trout and swims on the surface looks just like a live herring on a hook! I went to a web site that sells these things and they have a shad/herring/sardine like colors. I may give them a shot in the bolders here.
If you missed it they were in search of 15+ lb FW bass that feed on trout that are stocked in this lake in CA. (lake caseda?) THey were using really big rubba swimmers like storms. Some were surface swimmers and some were deep swimmer that weigh like 9-14 oz and 14" long. They were casting conv rigs that looked like gear I would use for 30+ lb striped bass.

Anyway it was an interesting couple shows...I plan to order a few and test them out in SW this spring.

Hey I am leaving Friday for California, and I am staying in Santa Clarita.
My friends brother works at the Castaic marina and I will be going to see him and going to the lake!!
I am going to ask him about this stuff!! I have never been any were!! But new England and I am so excited about going here!!

I caught that show, it was sick!!!!! He got some mammoths. One fish bas he caught was 27" long and 27" around, frickin massive!!!!!

I saw that show and thats the 1st thing that popped into my head......got anything in a herring or a mackerel? Those were some Monster largemouth.

$80.00 OH MY GOODNESS. I didnt' even pay that for my boat. LOL they look similar the the very large 9" storm shad. I saw that show and it was amazing. It makes me even want to go fresh water fishing.

ive used those big charlies on that site and got mainly 20inch+ large mouths with it. I wanna try it on stripas this year! Maybe put a teaser above it? hmmm

I ordered a bunch of different swim baits from that place in CA where they chase those monster FW bass (lake castaic?, after seeing that hank parker show) Anyway here is a sampling of what I got. (I got a mix of stuff in differenct sizes to try out in SW)
I want to try these at dawn near the waters I fish.

They look cool in real life.

Those do look great, similar shaped tails as the Storm Shads. How long? How much $$?

7.99-13.99. I bought a range of sizes and types just to try out. I just know the bluefish will wipe me out but I have to try them. I have a few of the big storms as well. That trout looking one with the treble is the Mr Charlie Sr from Mega bait. I had great luck last season with the smaller model. I bet that lure will get nabbed before it makes it half way around the point where I plan to fish it.

They did not have any of the 80 buck lures in stock...imagine selling out of $80.00 lures. I asked the fellow about that he said...can't keep em in stock for more than a couple days....sorta like Habs needles. Habs...you need to raise your price to 80 bucks!:D

I thought this was the lake I went to on my vacation?? but the spelling is off by one letter and gives you two very different areas!! I went to Santa Clarita and there is a lake there that has BIG Bass there also! It is

Lake Castaic

I was told that the day that I was there there was a guy who got a 13 poud bass and that they also have Striper Hybraid in there to?? But some of the guy there was using some of theses big baits that Sandman is showind and even though I never saw an fish caught while I was there I was yold they work great!!

Actaully it's both and the Lure is named after Castaic
