Picked up an eleven foot GLoomis spinning noodle rod. Figured it would be fun to use for schoolies with light line. Anyone have any experience using noodle rods?

Noodle rods are meant to fish for big trout in rivers, not for stripers. But, if you enjoy using it, good for you. If you do get a fish on, you may exhaust it to the point of death, they don't have enough backbone to turn a decent size fish. Rob C. 04-05-2004, 02:12 PM im sure they will be fun for the schoolies, like striperman said if ya catch a big one it might not make it back alive. i bet they would be perect for shad fishing. casting the darts a good distance and you woudnt rip the lips. have fun Mike P 04-05-2004, 03:19 PM So how do guys land 30# plus salmon from fast-running streams on noodle rods  hooked 04-05-2004, 04:53 PM Go for it. I've got a 8'6" steelhead rod for throwing light jigs and unweighted rubber. I used 30# braid to compensate for the softer blank. I also caught some decent bass live lining tinker macs on it. With an 11' noodle, you could probably cast flies. Slipknot 04-05-2004, 05:07 PM nope vBulletin® v3.8.7, Copyright ©2000-2025, vBulletin Solutions, Inc.
