I;ve been experimenting with arctic fox tail (dyed and natural) recently. Tying small flies for when the glass minnows and other small bait begin dropping out of the estuaries later in the spring. Hope the fish like them... These are about 1 1/2" to 2" long.

Arctic fox. Their guard hairs have a black tip on them that adds a nice texture to the fly.

I have patches of white, yellow and olive arctic fox and there are no dark tips. What's up with that?

by patches it sounds like you have body fur the tail fibers are the ones that have the black tips however depending on how it was died i have a few whole tails that have almost no color change mainly my chartruce and blue
