Hi everybody, Sorry I haven't been on in a couple of days, Ok a week!!! Been fishing every day from boat since our tourney last weekend. What a week!!! The tournament ended Sunday.

Monday went out with Aurthur and Paul on there boat. We caught over 20 keepers on live macs. Largest one I got for the day was 37 1/2 inches, and the guys also got a couple of nice 35 inchers.

Teusday, went out with Aurthur again. Got about 40 bass that day with only about 5 fish being under keeper size, with Aurthur getting the big one for the day at 37 inches.

Wednesday went out on our boat, got alot of live macs and headed out, put 2 fish in the box at 24 and 23 lbs. Caught at least 20 keepers that day. Then I hooked into a bluefin tuna that I had on for about 10 seconds and he snapped my 20 lb test like a shotgun going off, and lost half a new spool of line.

Thurday went out on our boat, BC boxed a nice 24 lber early in the am. Then We see these huge bluefin tuna coming up to the surface every once in a while, so I get my camera out to try and get a picture of one if it comes up. Next thing I know I look at the back end of the boat and one comes clear out of the water!!! I see my rod go down and I thought that the fish landed on my line, NOT he grabbed my live mac and headed off like mad, I told BC, get that other line in and get the boat running baby we are on!!!!! What a rush, had the fish on for about 20 min he was takin us all the way to the the Islands, when all at once I see one freakin lobster pot out there all by its lonesome. The fish heads right for it as he is sounding and I can't tell which side he is on. Well we chose the left and he chose the right, SNAP, gone!!!! Would have loved to get him up just to get a picture of him, what a beauty. Later that day we were heading in as we were pretty fried, and I see BC's rod go off and he's driving. I go back set the hook and I'm on, and its big, fish goes right to the botton, we take the boat out of gear, and look its another lobster pot!!!!, well after BC pulls up 100 ft of rope from the pot and we aren't sure the fish is still on or not, the fish came untangled about 10 min later, and what a cow it was 45 inches 32lbs 9 oz. Couldn't believe i didn't lose that one. We also got a couple of nice blues to 10 lbs outside.

Friday, went out with The Big Catch and Squidmama on our boat. Got alot of live macs and big one's too early in the AM, headed out to were we were before. Fishing was slow, got a few small bass, chopped of by a few blues and the dogfish from hell, so we headed inside a little anchored up and livelined in the current, and the Big Catch landed himself a beautiful 23 3/4 lber, Squidmama got a nice keeper but she wanted bigger, but it just didn't happen yesterday.

I am still in shock about the tournament and the way this whole week has been, it has absolutley been my best week on the water so far in my life and I will never forget it.
I have some pictures for the board but my scanner isn't working, will try to get them to John so he can post them for ya.

So sorry if I didn't make it this weekend, would have loved too, but I am very sleep deprived and need to get some stuff done around the house. Hope you all do very well!!!

WOW - Sounds like alot of fun, no more chasing the little guys on light tackle, eh? Also sounds as though you'll need to rig up a heavier rod just in case some more TUNA come along...

Sorry you can't make it, Liam will meet you another day. Talk to you...

Care to share where you were fishing? I just bought a boat and would love to start out right. How do you find the mackeral? Do you use the small tube lures to jig for them? If these questions a re too stupid just ignore them! Congrats on that great fishing! I caught 37 inch fish at pole 15 last Tuesday on the Canal and that made my week.

Fishdoc, yep, thats the mackeral rig... There are still some pods of macks in Boston Harbor and they can be anywhere within a 7 mile radius of the B-bouy (which, for anyone that doesn't know Boston Harbor, a 7 mile radius is all there is)... Where the macks were two weeks ago won't do you any good...

As far as the bass? Find the rocks and ledges but be REAL CERTAIN you know the waters you're travelling into as there are some nasty, drive mangling & prop shearing obstacles out there...

Fishdoc, If you are going to try looking for mac's you need to have a couple of flashy sabiki rigs, they are small tiny hooks and are working better than the usual mac tub rigs, the key is to troll for the macks, use a 1 oz metal on the end of the rig, exp. megabait, diamond jig or crippled herring. As you are trolling you need to be jiggin that rod to make it productive, that is how we are getting so many mac's right now. Rinse the mac's in a bucket of water fisrt before you put them in the live well, this will help keep the livewell clean and the mac's will keep longer. As for the bass, we have been trolling the live mac's. place the hook thru the nose end or around the eye socket of the macs and get them in the water, let out about 100 yds of line and troll as slow as you can. Thats the ticket right now. The fish are basically all over its just that you need the mac's to get them biggen's. Get a map of the harbor and try fishing the outer and inner ledges, they seem to be pretty productive right now. Hope this helps, GO GET UM!!!!!!

Thanks John again for all your help. I love this web site. It is really nice to see everyone helping out so much especially if you are new to boating and striper fishing like I am. Thanks also to Fisherwoman and Specialist. I only wish I had more time to get out there.

I haven't tried them here yet, but I mackrel fished in Lower Alabama with some guys that cut a McDonalds straw at a 45 degree angle and put it over a 1/0 or so hook and trolled them. Talk about saving money on mackrel rigs... BTW they said the straws from macD's worked the best something about the red and yellow.

Yes that me and BC, I was trying to disguise myself with a tan so nobody would know who it was, Tehehe!!!!

Check out the picture of the bluefish Biatcaster got yesterday. We were out trolling live macs and saw a small school of fish just finning on the surface right beside the boat as we were driving by. He pulled out the old St. Croix and his Calcutta and threw a green gibbs pencil popper and that fish jumped on it like I mean NOW!!! it was a rush too him about 10 minutes to land the thing. We were doing the rod and net cha cha. LIFE IS GOOD!!!!!!
