John thanks for putting it together and bringing the food, Bruce thanks for the shrimp coctail, and being the chef, Saltheart thanks for the delicious strawberry shortcake, and for letting me tag along with you and Smokey. I hope you guys all scored some fish. Chris thanks for the info on jigging the canal. I can't wait to get together with you guys again. Well that would be nice. I did get one today with a snake on the boat, did it just the way you and Saltheart told me to. It was only a 15lber but the fact that it came on a live eel was special. Did you guys get any last night or did anyone else? We caught and released a bunch today, the biggest today was a 42" 23lb. We had live macs also , and we did not see any tuna, but another guy saw some out by the graves light. I am beat time for a nap.

Good to meet you too specialist. And nice to meet you Don and Habs. I learned a couple new spots far from home but failed to hook up. Schoolie monster got 1 fish. It was good talking with everyone. Thanks Saltheart and John for the grub. John, next time I'm fishing the ditch. :P

ChrisL, did you or Carl get any? Was that you Chris parked in the place that holds 2 cars on the right as I drove home this A.M. at 5?

Had a great time. Thanks to Don and Charlie for the hospitality at Weekapaug Bait and Tackle. Great food again and plenty of it. Met JHabs and his son and specialist for new people . We didn't catch any fish. Specialist is the only one who can say for sure something was alive out there. Great time though.

Thanks for showing guys, it was great to fish with you all again...

We started not too far from Weekapaug fished one point and worked back to the beach - it was encouraging at first as we were at least getting bumps on the eels with the Schoolie Monster landing a Monster Schoolie. But that was about it for that spot... Stayed there til about 11 and went over to the Breachway, which earlier, Don said someone had some nice sized bass. Went to the west jetty where some yahoo was running a 40 bazillion candle power lamp on the end of the breachway so we hit the east side, and waited for the drop to start... I had one hit very early in the drop but once the current started running with any noticeable speed, the weeds came. Every drift was a ton of weeds to the point that it became unfishable...

It was good to meet some new faces and fish with everyone again. Unfortunately, the fish didn't cooperate. Chris, did you fish until 4:30 or get some zzzz before driving? Just a note: The lights on the back of the hotel go out around 3:30 am. Looking forward to fishing with everyone again.

Carl

A friend of mine fished weekapaug last week mostly at night. He said he saw one striper about 8lbs. swim by him one night and he never got a hit drifting eels in the dark multiple times he tried.
He did bucktail a fluke not far from Don's Tackle Store. I guess fishing wasn't to hot for you guys as well. Surfcasting blues.

It was a pleasure meeting all of you. Sorry the fish were a bit scarce. People were great and the food, especially the strawberry shortcake was marvelous.

Congrats on the nice fish. Gives everyone something to shoot for.

YUP! I agree....if we decide to head to the Cape for the weekend or whatever...we pick a day and reserve the night before...leave that night anywhere from 8-midnight.......rarely hit traffic and MOST of the idiots are not on the road! Of course you do end up with some....like the night I was taking the wheel with the hubby sleeping and the camper behind us (not my favorite thing but I will do it) and I was pushing 75 when this (had to be drunken) idiot passed me like I was standin...I mean like I wasnt even there.....he had literally about three inches more to swerve and he would have got himself a one way ticket "down south"!!!! His own demise didnt bother me so much....it was the lives of innocent others that had me scared! Never forget that one....

wow...sorry ....I guess I just rambled there......
