build plugs they said......buy my lathe says Bassmaster! Next thing you know I am into this "past-time" for a cool grand already:drool:and I have not finished my first plug yet! Here is a quick rundown of what I can remember.....bought Grizzly lathe and Delta scroll-saw used from BM for $100.00....set of gouges $35.00...assorted oil-stones for sharpening $30.00...DeWalt cordless drill $90.00...DeWalt ac drill(need more torque) $60.00...drill press $100.00...first load of AYC $35.00...stuff from NJTackle for plugs $75.00...second load of AYC $35.00...........today I decided I could not turn plugs anymore with my lathe precariously perched atop two rubbermaid containers so its time to build a tabletop work area.....lumber for work area $90.00...plus a 10" DeWalt compound mitre saw I been wanting to cut my AYC easily (and it will help to build my tabletop work area) $200.00....oh, can't forget the small fortune in forstner and assorted drill bits, Krylon assorted spray paints, envirotex, paint brushes, etc....add another $200.00 anyway for that stuff and we got an addiction buy in price of $1,050.00. Trust me when I tell you the money was well spent and I am honing my craft quite well......my first plugs should be done in a couple weeks (my own perfection takes time) I will not disappoint!:D And for all of this I blame you guys......

Thanks......:btu:

Big Fish----two things you don't want to know:
1. what it costs you to make a plug.
2.what it costs you to catch a pound of striper!
Ah but the sheer joy of it all.:D

1st plug costs $1,050
2nd plug only costs about $1.00
A SAVINGS of $1,049.00 on the 2nd plug already. Makes perfect sense to me.:D
