Friday the Sly Striped Devils were not around in most of the usual haunts. They would swirl and follow but hardly showed any agressive behavior. Do you think the summer slowdown has arrived early?? Heellp !

Could be... But one thing that may be in our favor over last year is that it has not been as hot, both air and water temp wise. Could work in our favor...

Hi Swamp-Yankee, I really feel we may be in a little transitions period right now, we have been seeing large schools of fish in the harbor for the last 5 weeks and all of a sudden they seem to be gone, I think what has happended is that they have fed up on the food chain that was here and have moved on, also in the last couple of days we have seen large schools of bait moving into the rivers and estuaries, which is the same as we saw last year about this time. So now the fish finally really have food to eat, so you will not see them be as agressive to artificial lures. We haven't had any top water action in about 4 days, from shore or boat. You may want to try 4" white/Pearl shads, they seem to be the only thing that will do the trick right now, unless you live line some fresh bait or eels. The Lobsters from what I understand are molting right now, and stripers love lobster. Be patient, I think we will have new fish moving in soon, as the water temp here is better than the cape, it is still about 5 degrees colder than last year at this time. But things on the cape are starting to finally slow down a bit because of the warmer water, so the fish should be on there way. Hope this helps. Tight Lines!!!!
