I have two pencil poppers I had repainted by a friend in the autobody business. The color is like nothing you have ever seen. My question is, he cleared them for me. Is there anything I can add to these as far as additonal clear coat to make them more durable?

Thanks in advance

Go up to Micheal's crafts in Warwick and buy a small package of Envirotex clear bartop finish... most of the plugbuilders here are using it to coat their plugs with it... Just make sure you wipe the plug off with denatured alcohol to get any oils from your hands off it before you coat it.. Also, you'll need to attach some wire to the nose and tail loops so you can hang them to dry... you need 2 wires because you are going to have to flip the plug every 10 minutes for a couple hours until the envirotex starts to harden... once it hardens you should be O.k.-

Actually, I think you'll find a wide variety of clear coats being used by builders here, not just envirotex ;) Flex coat, devcon 2 ton, systems three, etc. Might be worth finding out what clear coat your friend used on the plugs and how well that holds up. May not need anything else. No matter what clear coat you use, the plug is, hopefully :D , going to get beat up. Additional clear coats may also alter the plug weight some too.
