I got skunked this morning at Onset. I used a smack it popper and Crazy Joe's pearl cocahoe rig. It was a little cold. Herrings are getting larger little by little on the run. I was happy to get otw.

Got the skunk today too. I went up the bay, it was nice to get out for the first time. Was great to have the motor turn over and start on the first turn of the key.

But the battle over the electronics still continues, I will end up with a new fishfinder, & radio, and I need to bring my trolling motor back to the repair shop, after being fixed for this year! It never ends!:af

Notaro, I though that was you at Onset this morning? I was the guy in the white boat. I would have stopped and given you a ride but was on the way home.No fish for me today it was nasty once you left the back waters.:(

Got a few more than a dozen - from microbass to respectable schoolies - all in all, a nice spring day on the water :D

One straightened out my cocohoe hook... didnt see the fish so I have no idea how big it was....

damn, eben. thats great. johnr, u know, those cocahoes are good. i could cast them. they cast well. hey, do i hold my rod in vertical or place it under my arm like juls and bill? i have experimented on either of those, but my new light tackle rod flexes a little a lot. i cant say anything right unless i have somebody to correct me on what im doing, u know?

Did pretty good myself again lastnight.Not quite as good as you Eben but I got 8 and one of them and one was close,around 24 or 25 inches.This time I used 1oz blue/chrome Kastmaster with bucktail.
Will give it a go again tonight after the race,just need to take it easy on the brewsters.Unless its raining.

Notaro, if the water is flat and clean, keep your tip down. But if the water is rough or dirty, keep your tip up.. Also if you are casting into the wind, it helps to keep the tip down because it keeps the line out of the wind, so you can feel the bump as soon as it happenes and it also makes it easier to set the hook. If you have the tip up and its windy, the line will make a 'U' shape in the wind and when you do have a fish hit yoru offering, you might not even know it to set the hook because there is so much slack in the line. I also like to sidecast when casting into the wind so the lure goes straight out, and not up and down..

Notaro, when ya come down next weekend we'll do a walkabout with a little tutorial mixed in - once ya got the basics, ya got it all...well, sort of. You're still gonna have to pass the Eel Agility Test to get your GED :laughs:

3 small schoolies knocked the skunk off the boat Friday. Slim pickins, but nice to taste a little salt water

I fished the last Saturday in the upper bay and got skunked however I had a good time just being outdoors.
I was using two rods of which one was used a 7 inch alewife fin-s with a 1 oz. lunker grip jig head attached to a bopper about 3 ft. above fin-s in a rapidly moving current and on the other I used clam bellies on a 7/0 circle hook. This may have been a lethal combo if only they were there. Well there is always next time.

well, gentlemen, the danelions are here. It's time, men. It's going to rain this saturday, but the tide and my schedule looks convient. I'm going to hit onset and hope that it stays rainy and warm. And then I will probably hit the canal on a 6 inches storm shad or legerunner w/ a megajerk (what color is good for this time?), then off to falmouth for chunking and rubbahs or plugs.
