Great big cry-baby! The guy whines all the way to the bank! Trade him now I say, for whatever you can get. He is a divisive problem on this team and should be dealt with or away! Seems every time the Sox have everything in place to have a banner year, some jack-butt (thanks JohnR I like that word) has to be selfish and devisive and throw a wrench into the works! The last couple years it was Manny....this year it will be Pedro! Sure I think he is a talented pitcher and one of the best out there.....but compare him with Roger Clemens and I do not think he could be Rogers waterboy! A guy of Clemens caliber brings more intensity to the game, he is much more focused and does not get rattled! I think Pedro gets rattled too easily and he carries it to the mound with him, where Roger leaves it in the locker room. Pedro needs to be more like that! For a guy that does not talk too much.....he talks way too much!!!! Get rid of em' before we get nothing in return because I believe he will be going free-agent just like he said. I do not think he is worth the big bucks....I do believe the integrity of his arm is suspect!:af:

Just my .02 cents.

Ditto. He's always crying that he doesn't get enough respect, then he goes and leaves the first game of the season before the game is even over. That shows alot of respect towards your teamates. Always showing up late for training camp. Arm is suspect.

BF, you're right. Trade him now. We probably won't get much for him but you never know. At least it's better than nothing.

Just think what the Sox can do with that extra 17 million.

Loved seeing him get lit up last night!!!:laughs:
With his big mouth, I wonder just how hard his team mates play for him then he's on the mound.
What a JERK, the team is playing the best baseball in the league, and he comes out whining about his contract:af:
Lots of other guys without contracts for next year and they are all busting their butts!!!

Talk is that they are willing to lose Derek Lowe and sign Pedro???? Get rid of Pedro and sign Lowe to a long-term deal....he works hard and keeps his mouth shut!!:af:

Another diva act by Pedro. I think the Sox are right to stick to their guns. If Pedro won't accept a hometown discount now, then wait and let him prove himself throughout the season. Other potential suitors(most likely the Yankees) are watching closely to see if the torn labrum talk is for real. If Pedro pitches well throughout the season, I'm sure the Sox will be more than competitive with their offer. All this said, it's nice too see that the $17M 1 year extension bought so much goodwill on Petey's partl.

It's nothing new:rolleyes: it's almost expected of him to act like that. Get used to it. Maybe now that he has had his whine, he can get back to concentrating on pitching and winning games.
If the Sox trade him now, they won't win the world series unless they get another top 10 pitcher in return.
Everytime a ball player spouts off in this town the fans crucify him. Isn't he the one who said he didn't want to negotiate once the season starts?
The team will do fine. It's a long season.

Next you will want Nomar's head again when he doesn't hit.

Whatever side of the argument you fall on, Pedro sure picked a lousy night to not have his stuff.

Ya, Bruce, this has been going on for as long as I've followed baseball.

Williams got it for years.

Even the sainted Yaz got it---fans used to throw garbage wrapped up inside of "Big Yaz Bread" wrappers at him when he was in a slump.

#^&#^&#^&#^& O'Connell jerked Fisk, Burleson and Lynn around on their new contracts, and then screwed up the paperwork and allowed them to become unrestricted free agents, but it was all their faults when they left.

Jim Rice may have deserved a lot of what he got, but he still got it, even when he hit .330 and drove in 100+.

Clemens and Boggs were trashed. Both will go into the Hall wearing some other team's cap.

95% of the ballplayers today are "me-firsters" but it seems only the Red Sox fans hold them to a higher standard.

Slip....I don't care for Nomah anyway, and I never have! I would trade him for a large coke and a dozen hot dogs if I could. (with mustard of course).:D

Anyone think if Pedro becomes a free agent, he will sign with a national league team ?
I for one would love to see it !!! seeing that the sore looser loves to throw at guys , usually after the previous guy got a crucial hit off him!!!

I was thinking the same thing Slip....what the heck are they thinking!!!! They probably had two or three guys on the bench who hit better than him???

Watch as the "Amazing Crespo" makes a bases loaded, ninth inning rally disappear!:laugha: :hs:

I cannot agree with you more Pedro is the biggest complainer that there is but I would still like to see them sign him. It is tough to replace a number 1 or 2 starter. As far as Francona I don't like him, I think he has already had a lot of questionable decisions. One that absolutely drove me crazy was it was a tie game in the bottom of the 10th runners on first and second and no outs and he does not bunt. How can you not bunt in that situiation, well guess what happened a strikeout and then a double play.

How about his infamous no shows for spring training, where the hell is he?? Does he feel special?? I did hear something about Manny wanting to give some of his salary up for Pedro to stay, that was mighty white of him. Only problem with letting Pedro go is you know he will light it up somewhere else and we'll all be saying should have kept Pedro, I watched him pitching against the Rangers and I swear he was only giving 70% tops little bugger
