UserRemoved1 05-03-2004, 12:52 PM Does anyone know this guy's real name? I'm ready to call Clair but dunno who to ask for. I'm gettin bombed with about 60-100 virus emails an hour here right now from him!:af:
The Dad Fisherman 05-03-2004, 12:54 PM Can you block his address from you e-mail or your server, if you have access to it. Let me know what your using for e-mail and maybe i can step you through blocking him.
UserRemoved1 05-03-2004, 12:58 PM no I got his ip but he's spoofing return addresses etc due to the virus he's got.
The Dad Fisherman 05-03-2004, 01:00 PM Do you have a firewall? You could block smtp traffic from that address.
Flaptail 05-03-2004, 01:01 PM Scott, he is a car salesman at Clair Motors. His first name is Mike and obviously he has a lot of time on his hands as he is now at 2000 posts on the other board and he has been on only about a year. He lives in Onset. What a pita!
UserRemoved1 05-03-2004, 01:16 PM I got him on the fone thanks Flap. I'm gettin bombed with this stuff right now. I though it was bad on Saturday am but it's even worse today. EASY 100 emails an hour infected with the virus, and then I'm getting the bounce messages too. I got 3 virus emails from his ip in the time it took to type the preceding sentences.
Skitterpop 05-03-2004, 02:09 PM I work at a different location than the IP address but I`ve called them to see if there is anything they can do.
My name is Michael Choate and viruses are common and rampant....I`m sorry but I didn`t do something wroing here.
And thanks Flap....you are always there for me. Pita yourself.
Mike
UserRemoved1 05-03-2004, 02:11 PM They not going to like me when I send them the bill at $65 per hour for all the time I've wasted today alone.......
Skitterpop 05-03-2004, 02:27 PM Hey Salty,
Just spoke with someone down there and they are working on it.
Feel free to call me for further info. if I can help...
Mike
fishdog13 05-03-2004, 02:31 PM remember a good firewall is like braid you can't live without it.:D
jugstah 05-03-2004, 02:33 PM I'm fighting off the sasser.b virus at work myself. It's insane, 5 of our production servers got infected with it over the weekend.
It's easy to disinfect though, just run stinger.exe from www.nai.com and then run the patch off windowsupdate and you're pimpin' clean...
UserRemoved1 05-03-2004, 09:14 PM Thanks Mike, just got back from the shop and the email is hung...looks like alot again.
UserRemoved1 05-04-2004, 08:43 AM Thanks for getting that taken care of Mike, looks like it's solved now....maybe I can get some work done today....now about that Mercedes?
J-golden 05-04-2004, 10:16 AM SB - that explains what happened to my computer. it's dead in the water now.:af:
Skitterpop 05-04-2004, 11:28 AM Golden sorry for your problems but...
Golden....my home puter is free and my work station is free.... any of this Luv virus is coming from servers at Clair International so it probably didn`t come from me but if you want to jump on the bandwagon of blame help yourself.
Mike
UserRemoved1 05-04-2004, 05:05 PM golden, that explains why u didn't answer my email :)
I don't have the virus so you didn't get it from me....must be Skitterpop's fault :D
jugstah 05-04-2004, 07:02 PM Sometimes it's not always good to be quick on the draw in blaming someone
Skitterpop 05-04-2004, 07:19 PM By the way ........ if it wasn`t for me the big mommas would be here by now and everyone who wet a line would have a 50 plus lber to their credit.
I don`t even like myself!
Jigman 05-04-2004, 08:55 PM There are a bunch of virus thingies going around right now. A lot of those "Undelivered Message"/"Returned Mail" type. I've gotten a bunch lately and I'm pretty sure I'm not in skitter's address book. All kinds of address spoofing going on, both with viruses and spammers. Add the two together, and you have a mess. hard to track where you got the crap. If you want someone to blame, blame the aholes that write this crap and the spammers who continually flood your inbox :af: :af: :af: I'd like to slice them up and feed them to bluefish.
Now, about that 50 that skitter caused me not to catch :af: :D
Jigman
Skitterpop 05-04-2004, 09:26 PM Builder of delectable plugs and jigs....Go Kentucky!

Jigman Not sure how many of you are aware of this, but there appears to be a virus "war" going on with two competing factions trying to out do the other. That's why it's been so rampant. And you need a decent amount of tools to track down where something really came from...
J-golden 05-05-2004, 09:41 AM i originally thought this might have come form that other site. i don't know who it came from exactly; but there are viruses that get under the normal firewalls; and some people can be affected without knowing it, because it doesn't show up in the anti-virus software. Salty - i'll have to check my emails again:D - planning on swimming some buggers this weekend, in the rain. should be a real good tide were i'm going, high tide at dawn, good drop.
